What events would you like to see TFNSA host in the academic year 2026/2027?

The Trent/Fleming Nursing Students’ Association is a student group that is committed to supporting the students enrolled in the TFSON. The TFNSA acts as a liaison between the students and the School of Nursing. Each year, the TFNSA holds educational and recreational events to enhance the learning of students and to support the School of Nursing Community.
 
Trent/Fleming Nursing Students’ Association (TFNSA) promotes a spirit of unity and fellowship among the students enrolled in the Trent/Fleming BscN. program. Every student currently enrolled in the Trent/Fleming School of Nursing (TFSON) is a member of TFNSA. Within TFNSA is the TFNSA Executives, which are elected by Trent University nursing student body. Voting opens Friday, May 29th, 2026 at 12:00 a.m. and closes Friday, June 4th, 2026 at 12:00 a.m.

Meaningful change begins when student voices are heard.

❕NURSING STUDENT ADVOCACY ALERT ❕
A recent change to the critical care placement requirements has raised the GPA cutoff from 75% to 80% without prior notice.
For years, nursing students have worked toward the 75% benchmark set by the program. This sudden shift places many dedicated and capable students at a disadvantage, despite their commitment, clinical growth, and readiness for high-acuity environments.
Critical care nursing is about more than grades, it’s about skill, resilience, and patient-centered care. Changing expectations this late in the program raises concerns about fairness and transparency.
We are calling on Trent University to reconsider this decision and honour the original 75% requirement for current students.

Thank you so much to for coming to Trent University this past Saturday for the first Life Beyond Nursing School Event! Our students were joined by Darlene, an experienced, passionate and knowledgeable nurse who taught about cardiac rhythms, shared tips for transitioning to practice and fostered a stronger sense of nursing community! We are so grateful to have been able to partner to make this day possible!

Today, March 8th, we’re celebrating the women who paved the way to modern nursing in Canada. There is still so much work to do, but we are honoured to celebrate the achievements of women in nursing everywhere, and hope to continue their legacy for future generations🤍
