St. Alphonsus Catholic Elementary School

Just a friendly reminder that the community springs sale is scheduled for today at the St. Alphonsus parish Hall starting at 10 AM and running until 1 PM. This is a fundraiser for the St. Alphonsus Catholic School Council with a goal of raising funds to enhance the playground at St. Alphonsus CES. There is a bake sale, a raffle with great prizes, and pizza by the slice is for sale. And of course we have items for sale ranging from children’s toys to tools to books to houseware to pictures to frames! Hope to see you there! 

Happy Easter season! Our Lenten journey is over. Easter celebrations continue. Let us all enjoy what the Spring season brings!

Family games night sponsored by the St. Alphonsus Catholic school council took place earlier this evening. A huge thank you to all families that ventured out to come to the school to play a variety of boarding card games at St. Alphonsus. Door prices will be awarded tomorrow and will be sent home with those lucky students that won a door prize (provided by the St. Alphonsus’s Catholic school Council).The following are pictures of all of the games that were provided for families to try out and play at family games night.

More lost and found. Pairs of matching gloves and mitts, hats and a few bottoms. Please respond if you spot anything that belongs to your child and we will ensure it goes home with your child. All unclaimed items as of Tuesday April 7 will be donated to St. Vincent de Paul.

2026-2027 registration for students not in Kindergarten - Registration is also now open for students registering in any grade outside of Kindergarten. This is for students not yet registered at St. Alphonsus but would like to attend here next school year. Like Kindergarten registration, if the child doesn't meet the enrollment criteria (child or parent must be baptized Catholic, must live in our school boundaries, must have necessary paperwork for enrollment (e.g., birth certificate, immunization record, etc)), then they will be placed on a waiting list to ensure we have room for this possible registrant (as we need to ensure that students that fit the enrollment criteria are registered first). 2026-2027 Full Day Kindergarten registration - Any child that will be the age of 4 during the 2026 calendar year is eligible to register for Full Day Kindergarten (FDK) for the 2026-2027 school year. Registration starts on January 12, 2026. Please share this with any family, neighbors or friends that are interested in registering their child for Kindergarten at St. Alphonsus for the next school year. By registering early, you have a much greater chance of guaranteeing your child's enrollment in Kindergarten for the 2026-2027 school year, especially if the child doesn't meet the enrollment criteria (child or parent must be baptized Catholic, must live in our school boundaries, must have necessary paperwork for enrollment (e.g., birth certificate, immunization record, etc)). For those that don't meet the criteria listed above, we will establish a waiting list for Kindergarten to ensure that those incoming Kindergarten students that meet the enrollment criteria are registered first. Many parents are often disappointed when trying to register at the school in the Spring (or later) to discover that due to caps instituted by the Ministry of Education and lack of space for growth at the school, we may have no room for any new enrollments! Tuesday, January, 6th, 2026 - ALL SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION CANCELLED - Please be advised that, due to the forecasted freezing rain and poor driving conditions that are expected throughout the afternoon. In the interest of safety, bus and transportation service is cancelled to ALL schools in the STSCO jurisdiction for the day. This includes all schools in Peterborough City and County. Schools will remain open but all transportation is cancelled.
