A heartfelt thank you to Jon Thurston for visiting our school this afternoon and sharing his incredible journey as a Paralympic gold medalist. Jon's message of perseverance, resilience, and hard work reminded us that challenges can become opportunities to surprise ourselves and grow into the best versions of who we can be.

Jon was a key member of Canada's wheelchair curling team at the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games in Milano Cortina, helping the team make history as the first ever to go undefeated in round-robin play before capturing the gold medal with a victory over China. 11 wins and 0 losses! Jon represented Canada at his first Paralympic Games in 2022, earning a bronze medal and helping continue Canada's remarkable streak of reaching the podium at every Paralympic Games since wheelchair curling was added to the program in 2006.

In addition to his Paralympic success, Jon has competed on Canada's last six World Championship teams, earning silver medals in 2020, 2023, and 2024, along with a bronze medal in 2025.

It was truly inspiring to hear about his experiences as a world-class athlete, and a real privilege to spend time with an Olympic Champion. We are so grateful for his visit and the lessons he shared with our students and staff. Thank you, Jon! Keep winning!

The ICS community is celebrating our 2015 graduate Owen Hiltz of the Toronto Rock lacrosse team. Over the past weekend Owen and his team won the National Lacrosse League Championship. Owen had 3 goals and an assist in the Championship game.

🚴‍♂️ WHAT AN INCREDIBLE DAY! 🚴‍♂️Yesterday, our school participated in Pedal for Hope, and we have some historic news to share! Thanks to your overwhelming generosity, we fundraised the most money this year out of all the years we have ever participated! 🏆🎉We want to give a massive shout-out and THANK YOU to our phenomenal Pedal for Hope team. Not only did you work tirelessly to raise these record-breaking funds, but you also volunteered to shave your heads and cut your ponytails for this amazing cause. Your courage and selflessness inspire us all! ❤️✂️To our entire school community: thank you for your incredible support, donations, and cheers. We could not have reached this milestone without you.The kids had an absolutely fantastic time cheering on the riders! A huge thank you to our amazing police volunteers for bringing so much energy and creating such a fun, unforgettable atmosphere for our students. 👮‍♂️✨Together, we are making a real difference!

Immaculate Conception CES hosted our annual intermediate badminton tournament. Ten schools from PVNC sent teams to participate in the tournament. Congratulations to all the students who represented their schools.

Today we will observe Red Dress Day, also known as the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. This poignant day serves as a critical reminder of the tens of thousands of Indigenous women and girls who have gone missing or been murdered in our country.

In honor of their memories, we encourage everyone to participate by wearing red and displaying red dresses in your surroundings. Whether it's hanging a red dress from trees, windows, fences, or balconies, each gesture helps raise awareness and shows solidarity with Indigenous communities affected by this issue. Our day will begin with smudging on the school yard before our school day begins.

Let’s come together in unity and respect to honor those who have been lost and to advocate for change.
