Welcome!
Let me introduce myself. I’m Nicole, mom of three wonderful boys, and I’m located in Peterborough Ontario. Originally from the Lindsay area, I moved to Peterborough to attend Fleming College. I am a graduate of the Recreation and Leisure Program as well as the Early Childhood Education Program. I fell in love with Peterborough and have been here since. After graduation I worked at a childcare centre here in Peterborough, and after my maternity leave with my oldest I knew I wanted to start my own home childcare.

I have been offering licensed home childcare for approximately 7 years now. I love what a close relationship I am able to develop with my families, and how well I am able to get to know each child as an individual. I love being able to be part of their day, and am truly lucky to be chosen to spend time with your child. I am unlicensed at this transition time but am looking into starting the process to become licensed again, which would allow for subsidy approved spaces, and when the time comes the government funded $10 a day childcare.

This September I am making a change, and will be opening up “The Robin’s Nest” preschool program. When my youngest was in kindergarten I was surprised with the expectations placed upon their first year. While I had prepared him the best I could, I wish he had had a preschool type experience to help him through his first year of school.

I aim to help them be confident in themselves and their abilities, to help them gain independence, (getting ready for outdoor play, opening their lunch containers and independently toileting) to help with social skills (taking turns, using their manners and being a kind and helpful friend) to introduce letters, numbers, shapes and colours. To help them gain the skills needed to sit and listen to a story, to share their ideas and support the ideas of their peers. Being away from your parents can be tough and I want to provide a small group experience to help ease the transition into a busy kindergarten room.

I will be offering both full time and part time spaces. I recommend a minimum of two days a week to help them settle into the routine and to help foster the building of relationships. To maintain quality 1/1 and small group time, and to adhere to the ministry regulations, a limited number of spaces are available.
