Not all students learn to read the same way and more of the same does not help.

This may upset some, but most parents of struggling readers want truth. They want real facts. They want hope and solutions, not platitudes.

For visual thinkers there is so much potential in every word, thought, sentence and sound. Because of the different processing preferences a "linear Focus" with one thought leading to the next and so forth may not be possible. Instead, each thought spiderwebs off into multiple images, sounds, colours and concepts - looking to the linear thinker like distraction.
Constantly being told to "focus!" can be discouraging to children who are in fact already focusing in their own way, even if it is unconventional leading to discouragement for everyone involved.

Living with dyslexia, ADHD or Autism does not mean you have to give up on dreams or that you can't do "normal" things. With the right tools you can turn a different way of thinking and processing into a gift.

"Just focus!" - this is a phrase that can be heard uttered in frustration throughout classrooms and after dinner homework sessions everywhere. For children (and adults!) with ADHD "focus" doesn't always look
the same as what a traditional idea of paying attention might look like.
Often children who fidget, fiddle with objects or avoid eye contact while being spoken to are not being rude or ignoring the adult, they are in fact paying better attention BECAUSE of those activities that
let their mind have the stimulation it needs.
Just how everyone thinks, processes and learns differently, everyone can focus a little differently as well.
