Faculty update... Doug Savage is joining our team and will be teaching in our program. He is one of several experts that advised during our program development. As a professor, he brings an international reputation to the program, with his background in genetics and international judging.
Doug has been the North American Editor for Holstein International for the past 20 years. He is originally from Queensland, Australia, where he developed the Venvale Illawarra herd into one of the most influential herds of that breed.
He moved to Canada in 1988 and became a sire analyst with Eastern Breeders Inc. and later spent some years at Semex developing international genetic programs. He lives in Merrickville where he breeds purebred Rideau Arcott sheep.
Doug is an experienced livestock judge having judged at shows in South Africa, Sweden, Japan, Australia, the US and Canada, and has twice judged at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin.
