Last Wednesday our Cross Country team participated in the Pirates Meet in Brockville. All our athletes performed well, had fun and represented St. John with Spartan spirit!

We are happy to share that our Grade 7 girls came in second in their run, with Allie Licarie finishing first! Beau Solf came in 9th for the Grade 8 boys and Landon Mason made great time in his run. We are looking forward to the Turkey Trot this week!

A big thank you to Mr. Pat Graham from BMO Nesbitt Burns in Perth for joining Mr. Murphy’s Grade 10 Careers class again today!

Pat shared his knowledge and experience in banking, investing, budgeting, credit, and making smart financial decisions. Students had a chance to hear some real-world financial advice, ask questions, and learn from someone with many years of experience in the financial industry.

The timing couldn’t have been better, as Pat’s visit provided a great final tune-up for the first group of students preparing to write Ontario’s new Provincial Financial Literacy Graduation Requirement assessment.

Pat also left the class with five simple rules for the next ten years — advice that we thought was worth sharing!

We are very fortunate to have community partners like Pat who are willing to give their time and experience to support our students and help connect classroom learning to the real world.

Thanks again, Pat, for spending some time with us at St. John!

A beautiful afternoon for fishing! 🎣

Today, our students in the Multiple Exceptionalities Program (MEP) enjoyed a wonderful outing to Stewart Park, organized by their teacher, Mrs. Woods.

They were joined by their Educational Assistants and Best Buddies, making it an extra-special afternoon of friendship, fun and time outdoors.

A big thank you to Mr. Bingley for generously loaning his fishing rods and helping make the afternoon even more enjoyable!

And the final catch? 10 sunfish! 🐟

What a fantastic way to spend a beautiful afternoon together. Way to go, Spartans!

🎾 The Spartans Tennis team competed in the 2026 LCIAA Doubles Tournament at Conlon Farm last Thursday.

Our Spartans represented on the court, from our grade 9s playing in their first tournament to our seasoned vets and seniors, who all played with true Spartan Spirit.

📣Special shout outs go to our 🥇LCIAA Jr Mixed Champions, Priya Thompson and Keegan Merkley and our 🥇LCIAA Jr Boys Doubles Champions, Mason Jackson and Michael Vander Byl. Both duos went undefeated, punching their ticket to EOSSAA.

A special thank you to our scorers and table crew, Jade, Ayden, Alea, Lauren and Ali, who ran a flawless tournament, to our photographers Lilly and Katie, and to our coaches, Mr. Lee and Mr. Murphy.

The singles tournament takes place next week where St. John's looks to continue its success! Congrats SJCHS Spartans on a successful day and good luck next week!

☀️ What a beautiful afternoon for the SJCHS Terry Fox Run!

Staff and students ran and walked together through Perth yesterday to honour Terry Fox's legacy and raise funds for the Terry Fox Foundation. The sunshine and scenery on a beautiful fall afternoon made it a beautiful event.

A huge thank you to:
🏃 Ms. Geddes and our Cross Country team for leading the way,
🚸 All the student and staff volunteers who kept us safe and pointed us in the right direction,
🙌 Mrs. Peckham and our Student Council for the music and refreshments,
📸 Mr. Lee and the camera crew, for capturing the day in photos!

Thank you to everyone who took part, walked, cheered, or donated. Terry's spirit of hope and determination is alive and well at SJCHS! 💚

Last Friday, our Spartans celebrated the start of the school year with our annual Back to School Bash! Spirits were high as students enjoyed the sunshine, great music and Freezies.

The highlight of the afternoon was a whole-school game of Rock-Paper-Scissors. Every student received one strand of beads, and the game was on! Winners collected beads from each match, and the game kept going until only one student remained!

A huge thank you to Mrs. Peckham, Ms. Kirkby and our Student Council for organizing such a fun and energetic event. What a great way to kick off the year! 💚
