🎓✨ This week, Holy Cross Grade 7 students celebrated a major milestone—the end of Middle School and the exciting beginning of High School!
Students, faculty, and staff came together for a special lunch reception, generously donated by Tal Tile Installations Inc, to recognize the incredible journey of our Grade 7s and all they have accomplished at Holy Cross. Following the celebration, students enjoyed a nice beach gathering with their classmates, before heading off for summer vacation. ☀️🏖️
Congratulations to our Grade 7 students! We are so proud of you and can't wait to see all that you achieve as you begin your next chapter as Grade 8 students. 💙🎉

🎉Kudos to our incredible PSG executive team: Melissa C., Kim M., Jennifer N., Rimma R., Amber H., Laura K., and their amazing volunteers for organizing a fantastic Carnival Day! 🎉
Our students came together to enjoy exciting games, delicious food, and fun-filled inflatables, creating a memorable experience for everyone. Thank you to everyone who helped make this special event a success and brought our school community together in celebration and fun!
Holy Cross School is proud to have a strong parent organization that fosters unity among students, teachers, family and parishioners by developing and enhancing our school community. Our PSG is greatly involved in many of the fund-raising activities. These funds enable us to provide materials and opportunities that our students would otherwise be unable to experience. THANK YOU!

Some snapshots of our students in action learning PEX plumbing connections!✨
As part of SCALA’s distinctive academic program, students received expert instruction from the Okanagan College Trades Program Administrator, gaining hands-on experience and practical skills through an introduction to construction and artisanal trades.
At SCALA, we celebrate every student by offering enriched learning opportunities that reflect a wide range of talents, interests, and future pathways. We’re proud to help students discover new passions and possibilities through experiences like these! 👏

🌿 Learning Beyond the Classroom! 🌿
This week, our Grade 7 students took part in a hands-on learning experience as part of a multi-lesson program in partnership with the Okanagan and Similkameen Invasive Species Society (OASISS) and students from Oliver Elementary School. During these sessions, students explored the Max Lake restoration project and gained valuable experience in environmental stewardship.
During their fieldwork, students:
✅ Assessed plant survival rates within restoration plots
✅ Recorded any damage to plants and the project site
✅ Monitored reinvasion by invasive species such as Canada Thistle and Purple loosestrife
✅ Carefully removed invasive plants while protecting native plantings
✅ Removed competing grasses growing near restoration plantings
Back in the classroom, students analyzed their data to determine plant survival percentages and help evaluate the success of restoration efforts across the site.
A huge thank you to oasiss for helping provide this opportunity for our students to contribute to local conservation while developing real-world science and data collection skills. 🌱💚

🌲✨ And they're off!
Our Grade 8 and 9 students have headed to the Cheakamus Centre for their year-end Field School Program adventure. Through hands-on environmental learning, team-building activities, and place-based education, students will deepen their connection to the natural world while creating lasting memories.
We can’t wait to see all the learning and discoveries that unfold throughout this immersive outdoor experience! 🌿🏕️
