🏒 That’s a wrap on an incredible season! 🎉
Last Friday, our student-athletes enjoyed their final session of the year, showcasing the hard work and dedication they’ve put in all season long.
In partnership with Okanagan Hockey Group, our Hockey Skills Academy focuses on performance training and skill development, helping athletes build confidence both on and off the ice. The progress and talent displayed throughout the season were truly impressive—and this is only the beginning!
We’re proud of everything our athletes have accomplished and can’t wait to see what they achieve next. 💪🔥

🍇 Last week, our SCALA students visited Deep Roots Winery in Naramata as part of their Career Speaker Series and My Hometown Penticton project. Students learned about the journey to becoming a winemaker, the steps involved in the winemaking process, and the important role the wine industry plays in our local economy.
A big thank you to the team at Deep Roots Winery for sharing their knowledge and helping our students connect classroom learning to real-world careers right here in the South Okanagan!

Did you know? 📚✨
Our beloved Holy Cross School was originally known as St. Joseph’s School. The school served our community under that name until 1973, when it temporarily closed. Thanks to the cooperation and support of our local parishes, it reopened in 1993 as Holy Cross School, continuing the rich tradition of Catholic education in our community.
Catholic education in the Diocese of Nelson has a history that stretches back to around 1900, shaping generations of students through faith, learning, and service.

🧪Last week, our Grade 7 students had the opportunity to participate in a science lab experience at St. Carlo Acutis Legacy Academy. Using the academy’s professional lab facilities, students enjoyed an exciting preview of what academy life will be like next year. Mr. Buller welcomed the students, provided an orientation on important laboratory safety procedures, and organized them into working groups. The class demonstrated excellent enthusiasm and engagement throughout the experience.
A special thank you to Mrs. Hayden for her initiative in organizing these valuable inter-campus learning opportunities.

Learning beyond the classroom walls!
Our Grade 4 students recently embarked on an exciting field trip to the Adra Tunnel with tour guide Craig Henderson, where students learned about the history of the Kettle Valley Railway (KVR).
Students explored fascinating stories behind the railway’s construction and even discovered a historic rock oven once used by KVR builders to bake bread. This experience provided students with a memorable hands-on connection to local history and discovery.

🌿Inspiring the Next Generation Through Hands-On Environmental Learning🌿
We are proud to continue our partnership with OASISS, a non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention, detection, and management of invasive species in the Okanagan-Similkameen region.
Last week, our class joined students from Oliver Elementary as they shared their work with OASISS in a shrub-steppe ecosystem. After collaborating with their students and learning about their ecosystem, we participated in a short hike where students also learned about the history and ecology of the South Okanagan Valley.
In the coming weeks, we will have the opportunity to host Oliver Elementary at Max Lake as part of our continued partnership.
Through these experiences, students are developing an understanding of environmental stewardship by learning to identify the differences between native and invasive species, recognize the impact invasive species can have on local ecosystems, and explore ways to help prevent their spread.

May is the month of Mary🌸
Last week our school community gathered for a beautiful crowning ceremony to honour Mary. Placing a flower crown on our statue of Mary is a cherished tradition that symbolizes gratitude, faith, and the quiet peace she represents.
