Outstanding in their field - Endeavour Brewing Company 🌾

Endeavour Brewing showcases the spirit of cooperation and collaboration that we love and love the b**r industry for. They hosted Unity Brew and brewed up a Red Ale that we are looking forward to getting released during Alberta B**r Week, the Alberta Small Brewers Convention and the Canada B**r Cup.

The key staff at Endeavour came for a tour this summer and got the chance to see exactly where some of the grains they use come from and crops were in peak form!

🌾 Malt of the Month — Wheat Malt

Wheat malt is a versatile ingredient that can bring a lot to the table — whether you’re brewing b**r or making wh**ky.

In b**r, wheat adds protein that can help with head retention and haze stability. Since wheat has no hull, it can also provide fermentable starches while helping reduce overall astringency and husky bitterness.

For wh**ky, wheat can be an element of a grain bill or stand firmly on its own, providing a smooth flavour and velvety texture.

Think delicate tree fruit, soft sweetness and the kind of character that fits just as well in a pint as it does in a glass of wh**ky. 🌾🥃

The month is almost over, but there are still a few days left to take advantage of the sale price!

Another year of Red Shed Malting — and another year of growing and doing what we love. 🌾

This year brought some pretty special milestones. Our Parkland Pale took home Best in Show at the World Malt Cup and gold in the Pale Malt category, with our Caribou earning silver in the Caramel Malt category and Wh**ky Jack taking bronze in the Distillers Malt category. 🏆

As the malthouse has continued to grow, so has our family’s role in it. Sonja, who has been working with us part-time, joined us full-time this year, working alongside Joe in the malthouse. She also spent a week in the States taking an advanced class in malt production furthering her malting knowledge. She’s been a great addition to our team and a much-needed part of keeping up with the growth at the malthouse.

We’re so grateful for the brewers and distillers who choose our malt and continue to make incredible things with it — and for the accolades they keep bringing home along the way. Seeing our malt become part of their award-winning b**rs and spirits is something we’re incredibly proud of. 🥃 🍻

From where we started to where we are today, we’re thankful for everyone who has been part of the Red Shed story.

With our anniversary approaching, we’ve been reflecting on where it all began.

Joe was homebrewing and wanted to brew with our barley grown on the family farm. After researching malt in Canada, Matt saw an opportunity: there was a need for Canadian specialty malts. Together, they turned that idea into a business — Alberta’s first craft malthouse, with Canada’s first malt roaster. 🇨🇦

With our first malt system and roaster, we began producing craft malt for our earliest customers.

We’re grateful to everyone who took a chance on us in those early days and grew with us along the way. 🙏

Twelve years later, it’s pretty special to look back at where we started — and even more special to see how far we’ve come. 🤎
