Happy Chinese New Year! Gong Hey Fat Choi!
"This post is in honour of my beautiful chinese lineage- from the cantonese and mandarin speaking south china seas, tropical jungles & ancient china- this lineage in my wonderful daughter, sister, mother, pohpoh and greatgrandmothers.
It's amazing to think the lineage we carry is in our bones, blood and energy. Ancestral connection, from womb to womb, starts in our grandmothers who carried us in their womb as they picked plants, sang to trees as they rocked us, to even before. Even our mitochondrial DNA, responsible for energy processing in our body is exclusively inherited from maternal DNA.
We are all our grandmothers with all their magic!
How wonderful, as I plant chilli peppers, I get to focus on the connection as my grandmothers did; when I eat a meal I can imagine it lit up her palate too and I feel joy.
In connecting to your ancestors, focus on inviting joy and celebration into your life, as they did. Imagine how they too enjoyed lifes simple pleasures, laughter, tickling, tasting food (everyone's done this, no matter how rough time got). This joy will bring you closer to feeling full of love.
And with all this love for ancestors, even if you don't know where they were from/what they looked like, just listen, have a relaxed listen to the grass, to the wind, and your ancestors might surprise you with gentle bits of wisdom that come to your senses. :)
To honour Mother Earth is to honour, remember with love, our mother, and grandmothers before and after. The ancestral womb of rebirth into a timeless intertwined connection with nature.
Hope you connect with joy to yours!
Here is a an album of a recent trip to my chinese heritage in Singapore, a tropical equatorial rainforest. When I adventure with my daughter we are in touch with nature everywhere. We stopped to save snails on the path, beetles in the train station, that we burst into tears when we thought it died, but rejoiced when found it alive! We played with ants and native jungle fowl even by the city centre with high end stores a foot away; and admired the birds nest fern! Enjoy"
