Leadership Close to Home: Run for School Board Trustee

School board trustees bring local parent and community voices directly to the decision-making table. They set strategic direction, ensure accountability, and build safe, welcoming spaces where every student can succeed.

Local government is closest to the people. Trustees live in our neighborhoods, attend community events, and shop at local grocery stores. They drive grassroots initiatives that directly support our schools and families.

Several local areas still need community leaders to step forward. Right now, there are no candidate nominations filed for trustee seats in key zones, including:
- Arnprior and McNab-Braeside
- Deep River, Laurentian Hills, and Head, Clara and Maria
- Whitewater Region and Admaston/Bromley

If you care about local public education, consider stepping forward to represent your area or encouraging a neighbor to run. Tomorrow is the last day to submit your nominations.

Every community deserves leaders who care about students and public education.

If you have a passion for your community and a desire to contribute to important decisions affecting students and families, consider learning more about becoming a trustee candidate.

The nomination period ends TOMORROW!

A new school year brings lots of excitement - and a few butterflies, too! πŸŽ’

Back-to-school goes smoother when families and schools work together. As we get ready for the 2026-27 school year, a few small steps at home can make a big difference:

1️⃣ Listen to them: Ask about their worries and take their feelings seriously.
2️⃣ Focus on the fun: Remind them of what they love, like seeing friends, playing sports, or art class.
3️⃣ Share your calm: Kids copy the energy around them. Show them how you handle small back-to-school worries.

Shape the Future of Local Education: Run for RCDSB Trustee in 2026

Every student in Renfrew County deserves a supportive place to learn and grow. School trustees play an essential role in that mission. They listen to families, advocate for local needs, and guide decisions that keep our schools focused on student achievement and well-being.Β

Important Dates:
Nomination Period: Friday, May 1 to Friday, Aug. 21, 2026 (closing at 2 p.m.)Β
Voting Window: Friday, Oct. 16 to Monday, Oct. 26, 2026Β

School starts Wednesday, September 2, and RCDSB is ready to welcome students and families back.

Starting Tuesday, August 18, our schools are open for new registrations and to help with back to school prep. Register online at rcdsb.on.ca or contact your local school.

A few ways to get ready over the next two weeks:

Shift bedtimes and wake-up times a little earlier each day. Talk with your child about what they’re looking forward to, and listen to any worries too. If you can, walk or drive the route to school together before September 2.

First day of classes: Wednesday, September 2.
