The Renfrew County Catholic District School Board wants to extend a massive, heartfelt thank you to our incredible community. Thanks to your immense generosity, over $114,000 in scholarships, bursaries, and grants have been awarded to deserving graduating students at St. Joseph's High School and Bishop Smith CHS! 🎓
Your investments in our youth do so much more than ease the financial transition to post-secondary education, apprenticeships, and future careers—they show students that an entire community is standing behind them, cheering them on.
To the local businesses, clubs, parishes, alumni, school councils, and families across Renfrew County: thank you for helping our students reach their highest potential. We are profoundly grateful for your ongoing support! 🌟

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our grad candle fundraiser! We also want to give a special shout-out to JP Waxington, a local, veteran-owned candle company, for their amazing partnership.
A portion of the proceeds has been donated to the Bernadette McCann House, making this fundraiser not only meaningful, but incredibly impactful. Thank you for supporting the Bishop’s grads on their journey forward!
This year's candle was designed by Olivia Laird, one of our very own grads. The meaning behind Olivia's candle:
This candle was designed to represent the journey of graduation, as both an ending and a beginning. The hillside background is meant to show growth, reflection, and a future of possibilities. Every path has its ups and downs, and as we end this one path, we are ready to embark on any new bumpy hills ahead of us. The navy and gold colours give a sense of elegance and confidence as it also shows our school colours. The paper airplane represents dreams taking off and the new adventures that we will be embarking on. Overall, the design is meant to show that “the best is yet to come” while still appreciating everything that has led up to this moment.

As the semester comes to a close, we want to celebrate all of our high school cooperative education students as they wrap up their placements.
Our students have done an amazing job over the past few months, stepping into the workforce with maturity and enthusiasm. They have consistently demonstrated the professional, technical, and interpersonal skills they learned throughout the semester, and we are incredibly proud of their growth and dedication.
This program is only possible because of our incredible community.
To our local employers and hosts: Thank you for investing your time, sharing your expertise, and welcoming our students into your workplaces. Your mentorship is invaluable in helping shape the next generation of our local workforce.
Congratulations to all of our co-op students on an outstanding semester, and thank you to our phenomenal community partners for your continued support!

During his co-op placement with the Pembroke Fire Department, Nic Henry was tasked with leading me through a comprehensive walkthrough a Fireground Survival training.
He prioritized safety protocols throughout the presentation, ensuring a clear understanding of both the "how" and the "why" behind each survival technique. His ability to command the material and communicate effectively underpins his strong potential in the fire service.
Nic has proven himself to be a dedicated, safety-conscious, and highly capable student who takes his training, and the safety of his peers, incredibly seriously. Awesome JOB!
