What a phenomenal first year for the Highview Girls at Bat program! ⚾✨

From our Grade 1 to 4 participants to our incredible Grade 5 to 8 leaders, this season has been an absolute home run. Since we kicked things off in late March, the gym and field have been bursting with smiles, laughs, and pure energy. In fact, not a single day went by without someone eagerly asking, "Is today a Girls at Bat day?"

We have watched these girls grow so much—building new friendships, boosting their confidence, and, most importantly, having a blast.

News from Today:
The girls officially wrapped up their post-program surveys today and received their team hats and shirts! (For anyone away today, they can see Mr. Bennett to get their gear!)

🗓️ Save the Date: Wednesday, June 24th
The season isn't quite over yet! Wednesday, June 24th is Baseball Day. We want all of our Girls at Bat members to wear their new hats and shirts to school. They will get the opportunity to run the bases during the highly anticipated Students/Staff Softball Game at Kinsmen!

Thank you to all the players, leaders, and staff who made this inaugural year so special. We can't wait to celebrate one last time on the 24th!

Thank you Jays Care Foundation for all the equipment and awesome Jays clothing!

These walls represent 103 years of learning, growth, and community. Highview Public School has a rich history, and we are so appreciative of our Plant Department and summer students for their hard work in removing the overgrown shrubbery so that our beautiful building can once again be fully admired.

It’s amazing to see the character and history of our school shining through. Thank you to everyone who helped make this transformation possible!

The 2026 Highview Hawks Grade 8 Softball Team! 🥎 Thank you to all our Grade 8 students, as well as their teacher Mr. G, for their participation in and contributions to Highview athletics over their time at the school. Next up: Grade 8 Graduation!

For Indigenous Heritage Month, we participated in several engaging learning activities. A group of Grade 2/3 students learned about the Three Sisters—corn, beans, and squash—and made a delicious Three Sisters soup. The students enjoyed it so much that many came back for seconds!

We also explored the significance of totem poles and teepees, learning about their importance within Indigenous cultures, traditions, and teachings. These activities provided meaningful opportunities for students to deepen their understanding and appreciation of Indigenous knowledge and heritage.

Our Grade 8 students are heading home tonight after an incredible, action-packed time on the annual Highview Grade 8 Class Trip to Toronto.

The busy itinerary kicked off yesterday with a train ride to Union Station, followed by visits to the CN Tower, Ripley’s Aquarium, and a scenic harbour cruise. They then caught a Blue Jays game. The grade 8 students spent today enjoying the rides at Canada’s Wonderland, and wrapped up the journey with a classic stop at Webers.

This year’s trip marks a special milestone as the last of many Grade 8 excursions led by Mr. G. Thank you, Mr. Geddes, for years of dedication to making this trip an unforgettable tradition for our students (this was his 14th grade 8 trip)!

Our Grade 7 softball teams were in action today at the Alice & Fraser diamonds for the 2026 tournament. Both Highview Black and Highview Red put in a fantastic effort on a warm, sunny day of ball.

While the tournament scoreboard didn't always lean our way, both teams dug deep and finished their final games on a high note, walking away with well-deserved wins.

Special thanks to all the players for their determination and teamwork, and to the families who came out to the park to support the teams.
