When I worked for our provincial government, Regatta Day was my favourite day of the year. Not because I had the day off... rather because I didn't! My entire department was located in St. John's so it was the quietest day of the year for me. I was the only one working while they all enjoyed their holiday. I spent the day every year cleaning out old files, deleting and organizing emails, and purging items no longer needed (such as fading markers!). This past week I have been doing the same thing. It is such a refreshing feeling to have a clean desktop and an organized training kit! ๐Ÿ’œ

Happy Regatta Day to all my friends and former colleagues in St. John's. Good luck to the competitors. ๐Ÿšฃ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Sooo, I do not use Quickbooks; however, I have had the pleasure of hearing Morgan speak about bookkeeping tips and finances in general. Today I put into practice one of her tips and figured out how to create an expense in my accounting software by taking a photo of my receipt. Once I figured out the right settings to activate it was so easy to do! Definitely going to save me time in the future. Thanks Morgan! Be sure to check out her workshop. You will not be disappointed!

We're excited to partner with Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs (NLOWE) this November to deliver a QuickBooks Fundamentals Workshop Series! ๐ŸŽ‰

Yesterday I shared a little about our family reunion keeping me busy for the past few months. This morning, my client sent me a message saying, "I've left you alone as much as possible over the last month because I knew you were busy with your family reunion, but I need you back now, if that's okay! ๐Ÿ˜‚"

It feels great to switch gears and get back into work mode today. Today we had a call to continue where we left off - designing a fabulous event. We firmed up a few details about the agenda, discussed breakouts, and finalized keynote speakers.

What I'm especially grateful for is this client is engaging me during the design phase of their event. Too often, I'm brought in as the emcee or facilitator after the agenda has already been developed. In this case, I have been collaborating from the beginning, helping to shape an experience that is engaging, interactive, and valuable for everyone attending.

Great events don't happen by accident. They happen when intentional design and delivery work together from the start. I'm excited to be part of that process.

Register today! Would love to see you there. ๐ŸŒป๐Ÿ’œ

It has been quiet at Spicer Facilitation; however, I have been very busy the past few months! Last week, 90+ members of my mother's family came together for a reunion. Folks came from across ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ, the ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ, ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท and ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ. Many of us had never met before. ๐Ÿฅฐ

When the idea of a family reunion was first suggested, it was agreed my generation would be responsible for planning it. When I joined the planning team with three of my cousins, my natural PMP (from Project Management Institute) instincts kicked in! Plans, charts, and spreadsheets began to take shape. Project status meetings occurred at regular intervals. Drawing on available expertise, others were drawn into the planning process when appropriate. Contracts were negotiated. As I often say in my project management workshops, planning is as long, if not longer, than ex*****on. Last week we gathered for 3 nights, four days. This was the culmination of over a year of planning.

To my fellow planning team members/cousins Llew, Katharine and Fraser, thank you for going along with my crazy suggestions! โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™To the staff and management at Marble Mountain you are amazing. You were responsive to every change we threw at you. We booked the entire Marble Villa next door with overflow families at Marblewood Village Resort. A group enjoyed Marble Zip Tours, while others golfed at Blomidon Golf Club. Thank you to Newfoundland Insectarium for arranging a tour guide for our group. We cannot wait for Scott at RONiN photo to send us a sneak peek of the photos he took. How he managed to corral 91 of us into some semblance of order and get us all to smile at the same time was incredible. To a special 12-year old who designed our family shirts, you are an amazing artist. Shown in this photo is my generation. She designed different images for each generation and matched them to different coloured t-shirts. Thank you to The Trophy Shop for printing our 104 shirts!

This week is bittersweet. The planning is done. Folks are returning home. We are closing off our project records. The laughs, tears and memories remain.๐Ÿ’œ

Last evening I had the pleasure of attending a Virtual Meetup with the folks at Women in Agriculture NL. I am so proud of this group and all they have accomplished in 2 years. As a facilitator, I do not often get to see what organizations do after my contract is done. In this case, not only am I a member of the organization, I am honoured they trust me enough to hire me again when they need some support. I have enjoyed every step alongside them on this journey. If you haven't registered yet for their Sowing Strength, Harvesting Leadership Workshop in August, invest in yourself and do it! It promises to be another fabulous event. ๐ŸŒปhttps://www.eventbrite.ca/e/sowing-strength-harvesting-leadership-workshop-tickets-1990292249696?aff=oddtdtcreator

Sometimes it is hard to describe what I do with my clients. Please see the case study below to get a sense of the services I offer and how one client's journey benefited from my support. ๐Ÿ’œ

When Sharon of King's Point Glass Works posts thereโ€™s an iceberg hanging around, itโ€™s a sign to take a road trip!

A beautiful day to grab some โ€œdogs and popโ€ ๐Ÿ˜‰ and head to Kingโ€™s Point, NL.

๐Ÿ’œ Quality time with my husband
๐Ÿ’œ Gorgeous view of the iceberg and bergy bits
๐Ÿ’œ Purchased some stunning pieces of glass made locally
๐Ÿ’œ A new rock (IYKYK)
๐Ÿ’œ A warm, wonderful hug

If you head up to Kingโ€™s Point, be sure to stop in and see Sharon. Sheโ€™s set up at the By the Sea Inn & Cafรฉ. Missed you Krista!

How cool is this? Received a thank you card and my own personalized pin from Canadian Association of Professional Speakers yesterday. This organization has been so welcoming. I am proud to be a member. Looking forward to meeting so many in this community. ๐Ÿ’œ As I have started saying when I introduce myself these days, I make my living by the spoken word.๐ŸŽ™๏ธ

Thank you to everyone who attended this morning's Entrepreneur Coffee Break. ๐Ÿ’œ A special thank you to Kelli of Bees Knees Event Planning and Marketing for your fabulous presentation. It generated a great discussion! If you missed it, check out the recording below.
