The next general local elections will be held this year on October 17, 2026.
Voting in general local elections is an important way for people to take part in local government decision-making and have a say in their communities. To qualify to vote in a general local election, you must:
• Be 18 years of age or older when they register to vote or 18 years or older on general voting day
• Be a Canadian citizen
• Have been a resident of B. C. for at least six months immediately before they register to vote.

Dolly Parton was an amazing musician, writer and actor, but she also leaves more than 300 million books bearing children’s own names.
She watched her father live in a world whose words were closed to him, so she transformed his lack-of into imagine the possibilities…and thus the Imagination Library was born, sending free books each month to children from birth to age five.
More than five million of those books have reached children across Canada.
We join people around the world in mourning a beloved artist and honouring an extraordinary literacy champion.
Forevermore, children will read books with their names on it, and we will all listen to songs full of her stories. There are few legacies more beautiful than that.

We are back from summer holidays! Hey tutors, CALP reports are due for our year end. And if you know of anyone who wants to volunteer, contact us, because we have new adult learners looking for tutoring help.

Our year is coming to its last couple months. Thank you to all our wonderful volunteer tutors and dedicated students for a fabulous year of learning. 🌠 The Career Centre - Parksville is open in the summer so tutoring pairs and our ESL groups will still be meeting. Our coordinator will be on holiday for July and returning August 17. We hope you have a great summer! See you soon! ⛱️🌞
