An Update on the Daycare

Many of you may have driven past the daycare recently and wondered what we are working on. We are currently making necessary changes to ensure our centre meets the requirements for natural light in our childcare spaces.

As with many construction projects in this building, once the walls were opened, we discovered additional damage and repairs that were not anticipated in the original work.

We are often asked why Oxbow Community Childcare Centre does so much fundraising. The honest answer is that we need to.

Our primary responsibility is to provide a safe, healthy and regulated environment for the children in our care. While we are grateful for the government funding we receive, that funding does not always cover the full cost of maintaining an older building, completing necessary repairs, meeting changing regulations and making improvements to our facility.

Our fundraising efforts help cover these additional costs. They allow us to address necessary repairs, maintain the building, purchase items the centre needs, and make improvements that benefit the children and staff.

Every dollar raised stays connected to the needs of our centre. Fundraising is not about having extras simply because we want them. It is an important part of helping us maintain a safe and sustainable childcare facility for the children and families in our community.

We appreciate the continued support of our families, community members and local businesses. Without that support, many of the improvements and necessary repairs to our facility would simply not be possible.

The OCCC still has our Mabel's Labels Fundraiser so as we all prepare for back to school, these labels are a great help in keeping track of items, or at least when you see them in the lost and found picture at the end of the year, you know they are yours.

I am hoping to close out the Envelope Fundraiser tomorrow so we are going to post the last numbers on here right now, and starting tomorrow morning, it will be first come, first served. In order to purchase a number from the list, you will need to text the daycare cell starting at 8:00 a.m.. If that number is still available, you will get information to send an etransfer. If not, I will tell you the next closest number.

Last night we had an open house at the centre to show the work we have completed this past year. From weeds and dirt to a completed safe play area for the kids.

Thank you to all that have donated to this project and to everyone that donates or purchases items during our fundraisers.
