I’m so proud to see my colleague Susan, of the Adult Learning Centre, nominated for the 2026 Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Award. ❤️
Susan embodies what inclusion and equity can look like in our rural communities. She works with adults across Durham, Dundalk, and beyond, helping people overcome barriers, build confidence, develop new skills, and pursue educational and employment goals they may once have thought were out of reach.
What I admire most about Susan is the way she meets people where they are. She brings learning into the community, recognizes each person’s strengths, and provides the patience, encouragement, and individualized support they need to move forward.
Her work is a powerful reminder that inclusion isn’t simply about opening a door — it’s about making sure people have the support they need to walk through it.
If you know Susan, you know how much heart she puts into helping others. I’d love to see her recognized for the difference she makes in the lives of so many people in our community.
