Piano, guitar, and ukulele lessons are being offered at East Ridge Community School with Arlen Wiebe (he/him). Lessons are 30 minutes long, once a week, and can be scheduled during class time or recess. The lesson fee is $125 per month. For more information, please email Arlen at [email protected]. I’m preparing for the upcoming school year. I’ll be offering piano, guitar, and ukulele lessons to students from JK/SK to grade 8 during school hours (including recess).

Join us this evening at 7:00 p.m. for a variety show of wonderful choral music at the Choir Camp end-of-week concert!

All 100+ Choir Camp singers will present the beautiful music they've learned over the camp week (July 15-19).

The concert will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 865 1st Ave W in Owen Sound.

Admission is $20 for adults, $5 for students and children (cash only at the door).

Come enjoy the following performances:

🎶 Our mass choir (100+ voices), co-led by Dr. Elaine Choi (artistic director of Pax Christi Chorale) and Dr. Mark Ramsay (artistic director of the Exultate Chamber Singers).

The mass choir will perform "Si Vox Est Canta" (Damijan Mocnik), "Dixit Dominus" (Antonio Vivaldi), "Peace Flows Into Me" (Paul Aitken), "Dream a Little Dream of Me," and "Sing, My Child" (Sarah Quartel).

🎙 A cappella/paperless small choir, led by Louise Jarvis (former director of the "Oh Sing!" community choir in Owen Sound)

🎼 Learn-by-ear small choir, led by Rachel Lutz (conductor of the Halifax Newcomer Choir)

🎵 Creative/collaborative ensemble, led by Lauren Best (interdisciplinary creative and coach in Owen Sound)

🎙 Medieval/renaissance small choir, led by Matthew Allard (organist and choir director at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Owen Sound)

🎶 Songs with simple body percussion and movement, led by Jennifer Noxon (director of the "Rhythm & Song Community Choir" in Almonte/Ottawa)

🎸 Ukulele ensemble, led by Louise Jarvis (former director of the "Oh Sing!" community choir in Owen Sound)

I'm starting to reach out to organizations and businesses in our area to help support the Owen Sound Memoir Series and make it successful.

The Owen Sound Memoir Series is a new literary series that brings nationally-recognized Canadian memoir authors from diverse backgrounds to Owen Sound.

Each month, one writer will give a reading from their recently published memoir, talk about the themes in their book, and participate in a lively Q&A session with the audience. At a separate workshop, local writers can learn from the guest author about writing their own life story.

Our first event will be on the weekend of February 2-3, 2024, when we will bring in Ali Hassan, comedian and CBC Radio host. For our next events in 2024, we are inviting other acclaimed and best-selling authors.

We are looking for partners and sponsors to make the Owen Sound Memoir Series a success. We invite you to consider the following opportunities:

We are looking for help to spread the word about our monthly events by sharing our information through email and social media.
