Happy Earth day! 2026

✨ Happy New Year to our wonderful community! ✨

As we step into the new year, our hearts are full of gratitude. We are so lucky and grateful to share each day with such incredible children and families.

We ended the year with a joyful New Year celebration filled with laughter, dancing to fun party songs, and a delicious fruit salad made and enjoyed together. The children truly had a blast, and the room was filled with happy energy and good spirits.

Thank you for trusting us with your little ones and for being part of our extended childcare family. Here’s to a year ahead full of growth, connection, creativity, and many more beautiful moments together 💛✨

Our classrooms were filled with thoughtful creativity today as the children explored Remembrance Day art. ❤️

They created beautiful poppy-inspired paintings, collages, and red-and-black sensory invitations. Even the smallest hands created artwork full of meaning and kindness.

We are so proud of their work and the gentle conversations that emerged throughout the morning.
Lest we forget.

Thank you to retired Lt. Colonel David Hill for visiting OTC Early Learning Centre yesterday morning and speaking with our friends about Remembrance Day. ♥️

He shared age-appropriate stories about peace, gratitude, and the importance of remembering those who help keep us safe. The children listened with such curiosity and respect.

We are grateful for this meaningful opportunity.
Lest we forget.

The past two weeks as we welcomed new friends into to the Centre we talked about emotions, and how we can express how we are feeling. We used the book “The Color Monster” by: Anna Llenas to help us understand all of the different emotions we may feel.

Last week our toddler class talked about our feelings, and asked each day what emotion we felt. We expressed our emotions and creativity as we created marble painted colour monsters using yellow for happy, blue for sad, red for angry, and green for feeling sick. We also made paper plate emotion masks, as well as working on our fine motor skills with a loose parts colour monster collage.

This week our preschoolers have been identifying the emotions, and labelling them with different colours. In their sensory bin they have been sorting coloured pompoms that correlate with the matching emotions colour. They have also been working on their sorting skills by putting their emotion eggs on the right coloured stand.

As another summer comes to an end at the OTC Early Learning Centre, we are saying goodbye to some of our friends who are off to kindergarten. To celebrate the fantastic year we have had, we celebrated with our summer carnival. The children were able to work on their coordination with our spoon and egg races, bean bag toss, and indoor lawn bowling station. They were able to work on their balance while hopping in our potato sack races. Our creativity was explored with our tie-dye station, as well as our face paintings and temporary tattoos. 🎪🎉🎈

Thank you for being part of our community! Have an amazing long weekend!

This week in the toddler classroom was all about the beach! We talked about what you might find at the beach like sand, water, and shells amongst so many other things. On Wednesday we had a Hawaiian luau! The children wore leis that they made during art, tried hula dancing, and had a wonderful snack with fancy drinks. After our luau we did a volcano experiment using baking soda and vinegar. We watched as the two ingredients combined and caused a chemical reaction. We loved watching all of the bubbles form! 🌸🌋🌺

Have a wonderful weekend!

🍁 Happy Canada Day! 🇨🇦

This week, we celebrated Canada Day with joyful hearts and creative hands! The children had so much fun making crafts inspired by the Canadian flag painting red and white, cutting maple leaves, and proudly showing off their creations.

Through our art and conversations, we explored the importance of appreciating the country we live in. We talked about the values that make Canada special: kindness, diversity, freedom, and respect and touched on the rich history that shaped our land.

Moments like these remind us how meaningful it is to help children connect with the world around them through creativity and curiosity. ❤️🤍🍁🇨🇦

Our Toddlers have been using their fine motor skills lately, with so many exciting art and sensory activities!

While creating our beautiful masterpieces the children worked on their pincer grasp as they picked up the small pieces of paper, ribbon, or foam and placed them on their papers making sure to land on the glue. They also worked on their Palmer grasp as they picked up tools and utensils to scoop up mud and hay to create delicious dishes outside in our play yard. As well as helping to dig holes in our garden box, and planting and watering our seeds. The children were also able to explore their sense of touch as they dug through our sand sensory bin to find hidden items buried in the sand.
