The Arab Council for the Social Sciences (ACSS) is now accepting applications for the 7th cycle of its "New Generation of Social Scientists in the Arab Region" Fellowship Program!

This year, the program is also welcoming applications from refugee and displaced students residing in Lebanon, Palestine, Egypt, or Tunisia whose educational journeys have been interrupted by war, conflict, displacement, or forced migration.

We’re pleased to share that the WUSC – University of Ottawa Postdoctoral Fellowship is currently accepting applications for postdoctoral fellows with lived experience of forced migration who are based in Canada.

This fellowship supports scholars working at the intersection of forced migration, refugee protection, and higher education, and aims to centre lived experience in research and policy work.

On World Refugee Day, LERRN reflect on the urgent challenges facing refugees and forced migrants globally and the critical need to prioritize new ways of incorporating the expertise of people with lived experiences of forced displacement into the functioning of the global refugee system. This includes fostering trust and investing in truly collaborative relationships between academics and forcibly displaced populations.

By engaging refugees and displaced communities in the co-production of research, policy, and initiatives, stakeholders can leverage local knowledge, skills, and resources to create solutions that are more effective and accountable to the communities they aim to serve.

LERRN is thrilled to share the news that Deo Mwapinga, LERRN Researcher and PhD graduate, has recently published an article in The African Review’s Special Issue on Refugees, Displacement and the Politics of Belonging in Tanzania.

This article examines how naturalized refugees from Rwanda and Burundi experience citizenship in Tanzania in notably different ways. Drawing on fieldwork in Tanzania and archival research in Tanzania and Geneva, Mwapinga explores what explains these contrasting outcomes.

Rooted in refugee and forced migration studies, the article speaks to broader debates on local integration as a durable solution for displacement.

Important work supporting refugee leadership and participation in global policy spaces. The CRCP Advocacy Training is a strong step toward ensuring those directly impacted by forced migration are meaningfully included in shaping resettlement and complementary pathways.

Great to see refugee leaders building advocacy skills and contributing to more inclusive global resettlement policy through this training!
