The school is owned and operated by Master Marcus Ma (7th Dan),Sabum Curtis Lu (5th Dan), and Sabum Ryan van den Berg (5th Dan). Lu’s TaeKwon-Do is a family-oriented TaeKwon-Do school dedicated to empowering its students and providing them with the tools to live a better life through fitness, self-defense and discipline. Lu’s TaeKwon-Do is “An Art, A Philosophy, A Sport, A Way of Life”.

As our summer is coming to an end, our black belts are getting ready for the TKD year ahead!

Last night we held a special class for our Assistant Instructors. Over the hour-long session we covered a multitude of topics all geared toward how we can make our students’ class experience better and how to get the best out of them!

A key takeaway, especially for our beginners, was “students might not remember what techniques they learned that class, but they will remember how you made them feel.”

Think back to when you were a white belt. What helped you feel comfortable and motivated to continue your TKD journey? 🥋🤔💭

Huge congratulations to our Lu’s TKD team who competed at UTTC’s World Cup, racking up 5 medals.

Thank you .uttc for organizing such a great event. We met so many new friends and learned a lot!

Mr. van den Berg displayed a beautiful So-San against stiff competition in a category with over 15 people. He also helped coach our team throughout the 2 days.

Mr. Lu took gold in Men’s patterns and had 2 solid matches in sparring, but unfortunately had to make the tough call to bow out of the competition early due to injury. His first time training, let alone competing in over 2 years with of a torn meniscus. Might be a little early to call it a comeback, but we’re on our way!

Mr. Harding, the jack-of-all trades! He arrived early and was helping set up the mats, judged all day and took gold in his patterns division!

Marème earned her black belt just a week ago, had 4 days to learn her pattern and competed as a black belt for the first time on one of the biggest stages of the world! She took home silver in individual sparring and bronze in Team Canada Women’s 5-man team sparring!

Kyle, experienced a lot of firsts this tournament. He won silver in patterns and learned a lot in continuous and point sparring!
