We honour the life and work of Mizana Giizhik, the Honourable Murray Sinclair, who passed today at 73. As Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, he inspired Canada to confront its past, working tirelessly on Calls to Action 23 and 24. These calls underscore the importance of Indigenous self-determination in healthcare, pushing for more Indigenous physicians and culturally competent care within medical education.
His legacy guides us as we strive to build a healthcare system that respects and integrates Indigenous knowledge, values, and sovereignty. We thank him deeply and extend heartfelt condolences to his family and community.
