UOttawa Summer String Academy

A two-week intensive summer string academy for violin, viola, and cello students. NEW for 2022: Collaborative Piano Program!

Dates: August 8th-19th, 2022

The uOttawa Summer String Academy is an intensive 2-week summer string program for violin, viola, cello and double bass students held on the campus of The University of Ottawa’s School of Music, located in the heart of Ottawa - Canada’s capital city. With a focus on developing musicianship in solo and chamber music, university and advanced high school students are enc

ouraged to audition to work with the internationally recognized University of Ottawa faculty! Each student will receive multiple lessons and masterclasses each week, as well as daily chamber rehearsals and coachings with their assigned group Students will have each access to practice facilities, and will prepare for multiple performances through rehearsals and masterclasses with one of our faculty collaborative pianists or students. Individuals will be places into chamber ensembles, but pre-formed string quartets are encouraged to apply. Bass students may have a slightly different, but comparable, bass focused curriculum. We are thrilled to launch a collaborative piano program overseen by our fantastic collaborative piano faculty, for four advanced, university level pianists. Each pianist will be placed in a chamber group, and assigned a string player to work on a sonata duo. They will receive coachings, lessons, and masterclass and performance opportunities. With our world renowned faculty and dedicated administration supporting you, the 2022 uOttawa Summer String Academy will create an intensive, inspiring, and fulfilling experience for your musical development! Applications will be available by January 15, 2022.
