Message regarding the OTTAWA STUDENT TRANSIT ALLIANCE (OSTA)
Hey all,
This is a message to all students who are going to be making use of the UPASS this upcomming school year. SPUSA has joined with the student councils at Carleton, Ottawa U, La Cite, and Algonquin to form the Ottawa Student Transit Alliance (OSTA).
We have not been getting much cooperation from OC regarding fair charging, the infamous age cap, & summer student status; so we are all approaching city hall and induvidual counsellors on Monday morning.
WE NEED AS MANY REPRESENTATIVES OF DIFFERENT AREAS AS POSSIBLE.
If you are interested please call me @ 613.858.9067
Thanks

Question
Dear fellow students,
Thank you for your participation in our past U-PASS referendum. Your overwhelming participation made it a success. Unfortunately, due to a legal technicality, we have been made aware that the question was worded incorrectly. As this referendum affects future students, the question should have incorporated not only the 2012-2013 academic year, but also the academic years of 2013-2014 and 2014-2015.
As a result, for us to move forward, we need your help. At this time we have corrected the referendum question, which you will see below. We urge you to vote on Tuesday, December 4th and Wednesday, December 5th from 12:00-1:30 p.m. and 4:30 - 7 p.m. in Café Paulo.
The question:
"Are you in favour of a mandatory universal transit pass for full-time students at a cost of $180 for the 2012-2013 Winter Semester, and with yearly increases of 2.5% per year for the 2013-2014 and the 2014-2015 academic years?"
Thank you!!
UPASS Vote Final Tally:
86% of total voters voted Yes for UPASS.
We had a 59% voter turnout.
Total number of votes cast were: 275
Yes votes totaled: 234
No votes totaled: 39
Invalid ballots: 2
Great job everyone!
Congratulations to Saint Paul University Students you've spoken loud and clear!
