And just like that, the second-last week of school comes to a close! 🌞 We spent the afternoon enjoying the beautiful weather, having fun outdoors, and making the most of these final days together.

Our Grade 7 students recently became authors and illustrators as they created their very own French children's books for their preschool reading buddies!
Students wrote original stories in French and used AI tools to help bring their characters and ideas to life through unique illustrations.
This exciting project combined creativity, language learning, and technology while fostering meaningful connections between our older and younger learners.

These students recently wrote letters to their favourite author, Katrina Charman, after reading The Last Firehawk: The Ember Stone. They loved the novel and are excited to continue the series. Inspired by the story, they even named their class pets Tag, Skyla, and Blaze after favourite characters! We hope Ms. Charman has time to reply to their letters.

✈️Thank you to the many families and students who joined us for the Grade 2 Travel Fair! Each student researched a country or region, then “travelled” there and returned with a homemade suitcase filled with facts, information, and souvenirs—including their own airplane tickets. 🧳 This hands-on experience is part of our Grade 2 Global Communities, Cultures, and Traditions unit. Our students are now proud ambassadors for the places they explored! If you’re planning your next holiday, ask a Grade 2—they may have some great suggestions!🗺️

Our final House Event of the year was a great success! Congratulations to Banff, Terra Nova, Yoho, and Grasslands for another year of friendly competition, teamwork, and school spirit.
Years ago, Fern Hill students created our four houses, each named after a Canadian national park. Since then, the House Program has brought students together through fun challenges, collaboration, and a strong sense of community.
To celebrate our last House Event of the school year, students worked together to create summer bucket lists filled with adventures, goals, and activities they hope to enjoy during the break. A special thank you to Mademoiselle Lamarre for organizing this engaging and memorable event.

Our Grades 2, 3, and 4 students had a wonderful day exploring local history at Watson’s Mill and Dickinson House in Manotick! Through hands-on activities, students stepped back in time and learned what daily life was like in the 1800s. They enjoyed bagging flour, churning butter, creating cardboard guitars, and discovering the rich history of our community. It was a fun and engaging day filled with learning, creativity, and memorable experiences!

Thanks to the generosity and hard work of our students, families, and staff, Fern Hill has proudly prepared and donated more than 600 sandwiches this year. 🥪 We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with highjinx and help make a difference in our community while teaching our students the importance of kindness, service, and caring for others.
