We’re getting ready to welcome our Fern Hill School families back for another wonderful year of learning, growing, and connecting together.

We can’t wait to welcome our FHS families to our Open House on Thursday, September 3!

Whether you’re joining us for our Preschool, JK & SK Open House or our Grades 1–8 Open House, we look forward to seeing you, reconnecting with familiar faces, and welcoming new families to our Fern Hill community.

Exciting News for Fern Hill Families!😀
We're making mornings a little easier! Beginning this school year, Fern Hill School will now offer early morning childcare starting at 7:30 a.m., giving families even more flexibility at the start of the day.
Whether you have an earlier work schedule or simply need a little extra time in the morning, our earlier drop-off option is designed to help busy families.

🍕Ending the school year with one more act of community care.
Fern Hill teachers contributed funds and partnered with Schoolhouse Pizza on Springfield Road to purchase 6 boxes of fresh, hot pizza for Highjinx, a local social service hub that provides meals, support, and connection for neighbours in need. Teachers delivered the pizza, and the staff at Highjinx were thrilled to be able to share it with community members.
This was a meaningful way to wrap up a year of supporting Highjinx through our monthly Brown Bag Lunch Program, where students helped make a difference by preparing lunches that included a sandwich, juice, a cookie, and fruit for neighbours in the community.
Our staff hopes this encourages other community members and organizations to connect with Highjinx and explore ways they can support neighbours in Ottawa — every contribution makes a difference.
Thank you to Highjinx for the important work you do each day to support and strengthen our community, and thank you to Schoolhouse Pizza and our Fern Hill community for helping make this happen! 💛

Before saying goodbye to the 2025–26 school year, we celebrated our amazing preschool graduates! It was such a joy to see how much they have grown in confidence, learning, and friendships throughout the year.

Behind the scenes of Graduation Day 🎓✨
While the spotlight shines on our graduates, there is so much happening behind the scenes to make the day special. Our dedicated teachers spent time blowing up balloons, putting up decorations, arranging chairs, and preparing every detail to create a memorable celebration for our graduating class.

Thank you to the best parents a school could ask for! Our Fern Hill community once again showed incredible generosity in supporting our Year-End BBQ and helping make it a wonderful celebration of another amazing school year.
A special thank you to the Hodgson/Drury Family at D’Arcy McGee’s for their donation of water and juice, and a heartfelt thank you to the many other Fern Hill families whose donations and contributions helped make the BBQ such a success.
