Elmvale Music and Drama Music and Drama programs for children in the Elmvale, Riverview Park area of Ottawa

Elmvale Music and Drama offers after-school programs for children in the Elmvale, Riverview Park area. In fall 2012 we will be offering a 9-week program, from early October to early December, for 3-8 year olds one afternoon a week. Laura Farley Ratcliffe - bio:
My passion for theatre and music began as a child, singing in choirs since the age of six and performing in and directing plays and musica

ls throughout high school and university. The love I have for the arts brought me to Queen’s University to study Drama and Classical Studies. I was drawn to the great city of Ottawa and finished my last year of undergrad studies at the University of Ottawa, obtaining my Bachelor of Arts. I further honed my skills with a Masters of Arts in Drama from the University of Toronto. I'm very passionate about sharing the joys of drama and music with children of all ages. My local experience includes teaching in the children’s program at the Ottawa School of Speech and Drama, instructing music and drama with the City of Ottawa’s Parks and Recreation program, and co-Directing KidSingers, part of the OrKidstra program, from 2010-2012. In Toronto, I worked with the Canadian Children's Opera Chorus, teaching ages 4-6. I moved back to Ottawa four years ago with my family and enjoy spending my days singing and imagining with my two young daughters.

Good morning! I hope the first week of school is going well for everyone - I know that in our house, yesterday was a harder morning than the first two, as the tiredness sets in and the excitement ebbs...
I am sorry to announce that the fall season of the Elmvale Neighbourhood choir is being put on hold. I have recurrent strep throat and need to get healthy before I can start the choir again. Please keep watching this space, as I hope to offer the choir as a winter activity. Thank you for your understanding.

Happy New Year! In the middle of this January gloom, I have been singing a lot – in the car, with my kids, by myself, in my head when I am in line somewhere… Music is such a great mood-booster, and has so many positive effects on our brains, spirits and bodies!

Singing together builds community, strengthens communication and presentation skills, improves cooperation and self-confidence, and just creates a good vibe amongst participants!

The mid-winter session of the Elmvale Neighbourhood Choir is open to new and returning singers, in grades 2-6. Once again, we will be meeting and singing on Wednesdays after school, 3:30-4:30pm. The fee for our 8 week session is $80.00. I will host the session at my home studio, and I look forward to adding some new music, more drama, and Canadian songwriters to the mix!

Winter session: Wed. Feb. 22 – Wed. April 19, 2017, 3:30-4:30pm, $80.00

(no class during March Break week)

If your child is interested in joining the Elmvale Neighbourhood Choir, and singing in a fun, friendly environment, or if you have questions, please contact me – we would love to add your child’s voice to the choir!

A great start to our winter term with Elmvale Neighbourhood Choir! We have been working on writing our own songs, as well as learning a few new rounds to sing in two parts. Tricky stuff but lots of fun! We still have room for 2 or 3 singers this term, it is not too late to sign up! PM me or check our website for a contact form: www.elmvalemusicanddrama.com
