β¨Our year came to a close with our graduation ceremony held at the National Gallery of Canada. It was an amazing opportunity to celebrate memories, reflect on accomplishments, and honour the achievements of our NS students.
Thank you to everyone who travelled to Ottawa to attend the ceremony, including the many honoured guests. We are also deeply grateful to everyone involved in the planning and preparation of graduation.

Executive & Operations Assistant
Organization: Nunavut Sivuniksavut (NS)

The Opportunity
We are seeking an Executive & Operations Assistant to join our dedicated team. This dynamic, multi-faceted role serves as a central pillar of the college's daily operations and governance administration.
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, you will bridge executive support, board relations, student administration, and campus operations. You will manage the crucial intersection of board-level governance and internal operations, ensuring our staff, students, and the Board are seamlessly supported throughout the academic year.
Key Responsibilities
1. Executive & Board Governance Support
Executive Administration: Provide administrative support to the Executive Director, including calendar management, correspondence, and prioritizing daily workflows.
Board Liaison: Act as the primary administrative point of contact for the NS Board.
Meeting Logistics: Coordinate all Board meeting logistics, including scheduling, travel, accommodations, and preparing/distributing comprehensive meeting packages.
Governance Recordkeeping: Serve as the official recording secretary for Board meetings, producing accurate, professional, and timely minutes.
2. Campus Operations & Facilities
Property Coordination: Property management and facilities needs for both the NS campus and student residence.
Vendor Relations: Serve as the main point of contact for building maintenance, landlords, and operational logistics.
Digital Maintenance: Oversee routine website updates and ensure campus digital information remains current.
3. Student Recruitment & Registration Support
Admissions & Selection: Assist the selection committee and coordinate the administrative logistics of student applications and registration.
Records & Transition Management: Maintain organized student administrative records and support logistical needs as students transition into life in Ottawa.
4. Financial & Event Logistics
Financial Admin: Assist with essential financial tasks, including tracking operational expenses and organizing documentation for the finance team.
Special Events: Provide logistical support for key institutional events, year-end student trips, and the annual graduation ceremony.
Qualifications & Assets
Required Experience & Skills:
Proven Experience: 3β5+ years in an Executive Assistant, Board Secretary, Operations Coordinator, or similar multi-functional role.
Governance Acumen: Direct experience supporting a Board of Directors, with strong skills in formal minute-taking and governance logistics.
Multitasking Excellence: A proven track record of managing competing priorities across multiple areas (facilities, finance, administration, and executive support).
Communication & Tech: Strong written and verbal communication skills; highly proficient with MS Office Suite, basic website content management, and digital collaboration tools.
Desirable Assets:
Deep knowledge and awareness of Inuit culture, language, and communities.
Prior administrative experience within a non-profit, educational, or Indigenous organization.

The last three weeks have been a whirlwind at Nunavut Sivuniksavut!
Students returned from their end-of-year cultural exchange trips to New Zealand, Peru, and Costa Rica.
We would like to thank our guides and hosts in each country for welcoming us so generously, sharing their knowledge, and opening their hearts and homes to us.
In total, 35 students and nine staff members participated in these incredible experiences.
Nunavut Siviniksavut would like to extend their appreciation to organizations and groups who contributed to our fundraising efforts through hired performances, workshops, raffle tickets and merchandised items throughout the school year. Qujannamiik to everyone who made this trip happen for our students!!!
