Heritage Academy is an Ontario Inspected Private school specifically designed for students with Dyslexia, Specific Language Disorder, language based exceptionalities, ADHD, ASD Level 1, anxiety and attention-based exceptionalities. Learning exceptionalities are being more readily diagnosed and progress is being made to lift the negative connotations traditionally associated with such exceptionalit

ies. Recent research has concluded that dyslexia, ADHD and many other learning exceptionalities are not linked to levels of intelligence. Rather, this indicates that students who receive appropriate accommodations to support their learning challenges can still excel academically. This is where Heritage Academy can help: We are an Ottawa-based school specializing in helping students with learning exceptionalities reach their highest academic potential. Unlike most schools, Heritage Academy offers small classes with no more than twelve students per teacher. We teach grades 1-12 and provide each student with a supportive learning environment and customized learning approach that best suites their individual learning needs.

It's Back to School Day!

We hope our returning families had a wonderful summer, and we are thrilled to welcome our new students and families to the Heritage Academy community.

We’ve been busy over the summer making exciting improvements, including brighter learning spaces and beautiful new outdoor features—fresh grass and flowers, a sensory garden, balance logs, rubber rocks, a new basketball court, and a shade canopy.

We’re excited to begin another wonderful year of learning, growing, and making memories together!

BACK TO SCHOOL IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER!

We are so excited to welcome our Heritage Academy students and families back for another wonderful school year.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL — Wednesday, September 2nd, 2026

Our educators and administration will be ready to welcome students beginning at 8:15 a.m.

Creativity and fun were on full display as we wrapped up another amazing school year at Heritage Academy.

Our Grade 8 students put their engineering skills to the test by showcasing their Egg Crash Test Vehicles, demonstrating impressive designs, creative problem-solving, and plenty of innovation as they worked to protect their eggs from impact.

Students in Mr. Maw's Grade 7 class also enjoyed getting a little payback by pieing him in the face, a fun-filled activity that had everyone smiling and laughing!

Meanwhile, our Grade 2 and 3 students celebrated the end of the year by designing and creating their very own colourful piñatas, bringing imagination, artistic flair, and lots of excitement to the classroom.

From engineering challenges to artistic creations, our students continue to amaze us with their creativity, determination, and enthusiasm for learning.

⛱ What a fantastic way to wrap up another school year!

Our Grades 2–8 students spent the day at Mont-Cascades Water Park, enjoying the sunshine, splashing through the attractions, and making lasting memories with their classmates.

The fantastic weather and excitement throughout the day made it a wonderful way to mark the end of a year filled with growth, learning, and friendship.

After another fantastic year of Monster Club, our amazing Monster Squad came together for a special End-of-Year Movie Night!

Students enjoyed an evening of fun, laughter, and friendship as they mingled and celebrated everything Monsters while watching a classic movie, The Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954)

A special thank you goes out to Ms. Pam and Mr. Alex for their time, energy, and enthusiasm throughout the year. Their dedication helped make Monster Club a fun, welcoming, and memorable experience for all of our members.

🎪What a Fantastic Carnival Day!

Our annual End-of-Year Carnival was filled with laughter, excitement, and unforgettable memories for our students and families!

From cuddly animals at the petting zoo and endless fun on the bouncy castles to exciting games and activities, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Families also treated themselves to some delicious goodies from Frozen Flamingo
and The Almighty Cheese Food Services, making the day even sweeter!

A special thank you goes out to Party Time Rentals, Full of Beans, our incredible volunteers, and our dedicated staff members whose hard work and enthusiasm helped make this event such a tremendous success.

📣Special Announcement: Celebrating a Remarkable Achievement

We are thrilled to congratulate Spencer Brigden, one of our outstanding Grade 11 students, on being accepted into the prestigious Shad Program.

Admission to Shad is a significant accomplishment. Each year, students from across Canada participate in a highly competitive selection process designed to identify young people who demonstrate exceptional curiosity, creativity, leadership, and a willingness to challenge themselves beyond the classroom. Spencer's achievements, character, and potential clearly stood out.

For over 40 years, Shad has brought together some of Canada's most promising students for an immersive summer experience focused on innovation, entrepreneurship, science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and leadership. Shad alumni have gone on to become Rhodes Scholars, Loran Scholars, Schulich Leaders, TD Scholars, successful entrepreneurs, researchers, and leaders in their communities and professions.

This achievement reflects Spencer's hard work, dedication, and passion for learning. We are incredibly proud of him and look forward to hearing about the experiences, discoveries, and opportunities that await him this summer.

The past week has been filled with laughter, memories, and special moments as our graduating students came together to celebrate the end of their Heritage Academy journey.

From their exciting year-end Grad Trip to a milestone celebration at the Senior Prom, our graduates had the opportunity to relax, connect with friends, and create lasting memories before embarking on their next adventures.

Adding to the excitement, some rather extreme weather conditions made both events even more memorable! Whether dodging rain, trying to stay cool, or simply making the best of every moment, our graduates demonstrated resilience, positivity, and a great sense of humour throughout it all. 🎓
