AESOP Camp is focused around academic enrichment in order to improve the understanding and skills boys may be struggling with during their academic year. We provide them with classes that tutor them in English and Math in order to help with their grades because many boys struggle with these subjects at this age (grades 5-8). We believe it is important for children at this age to be physically acti
ve through sports. We play a range of sports like soccer, basketball, ultimate frisbee, etc. Sports create friendships and team bonding that will prepare the participants for future endeavors. Throughout the program we go on fun and educational trips around the city of Ottawa. In the past Carleton University has allowed us to use their pool facility on a weekly basis. Other activities we have done in the past are visiting many museums around the Ottawa area and The Royal Canadian Mint and Parliament. We have gone rock climbing and on a dragon boat ride in Mooney’s Bay. Activities change yearly but focus on being educational and fun, giving the participants new information and skills they can take away from the program. AESOP Camp gives children a positive direction that they can use throughout their youth and later on in life. The participants are required to pay a fee of $10 for a camp session (3 weeks) and the rest is subsidized by charitable organizations and donations.
