Hello and welcome to MUDDY GUPPY CHILDCARE. We are a private home daycare located in Kemptville, close to HWY 416. We care for infants (6 months +) and children (up to 12) in a safe and nurturing home environment. We are a nature inspired, play based childcare offering full time, part time, and occasional childcare. We have 5 core values that our program is based on :

1) We follow respectful par

enting / caregiving practices - this means instead of a punishment based system we work with children to find what the missing skill set or need is. We promise to provide a loving, stable environment for your child(ren). We are interested in their care and we love watching them grow and learn

2) We work as a community- working as a community means we are responsible for learning how to live , play , and work in a way that allows everyone else to do the same. Just like at home, we set reasonable boundaries at MGC to hep focus on teaching manners, friendship and respect for their friends

3) We value Mother Earth - This includes exploring our natural forest play area and growing our own fruits and vegetables each year. We will discover how caring for nature is caring for those around us and ourselves

4) We believe that play and exploring the world is learning. Our daily activities are child led through their imagination. We highly encourage creative and active play. We have a large assortment of toys, books, puzzles, etc.... that are rotated regularly to keep our space interesting and engaging.

5) We believe that art and creation comes from the heart not from a copied project - our art work or creations may often times look like “junk” or random lines on a paper . When asked students have beautiful stories about these creations . You can see their pride in their work as they walk you through the process and finished product . MGC is a small home childcare with low child to provider ratio which enables us to spend quality time with the little ones to ensure they feel safe and happy and cater for their individual needs. Who says the frogs outside get to have all the fun in the rain? It might be pouring out there, but we’re having just as much fun inside, leaping from one stone to the next like total pros!
The playroom has officially transformed into a giant indoor lily-pad course, and we are ribbiting our way through the dreary weather. Gross motor skills are in high gear, high energy is bouncing off the walls, and the rain can’t touch us!

🌱 Garden-to-Table Goodness with the Guppies! 🥒

Eating locally grown food doesn’t get any easier than stepping right into our garden. Today, our adventurous guppies went on an exciting green-thumb mission to hunt for the perfect cucumber and pluck it right off the vine to enjoy with our lunch.

Beyond being a fun outdoor activity, harvesting our own garden veggies builds incredible hands-on learning skills. Carefully searching through leafy vines, grasping the stem, and harvesting the crop helps sharpen essential fine motor coordination and sensory development. Connecting where food comes from builds early cognitive awareness, and best of all, plucking their very own veggie gives our little ones an overwhelming sense of accomplishment. Bringing their "catch" to the lunch table made them beam with pride.

The verdict? Hands down, these are the crunchiest, tastiest cucumbers we’ve ever eaten... well, at least until the next ones we get to harvest.

When people say they could never do childcare and ask how I do it, I simply tell them it’s easy. I get to spend my days surrounded by amazing little humans who teach me just as much about the beauty of life as I teach them about growing up.

Of course, there are days that test me, filled with the delicate work of guiding them through big feelings and navigating struggles while their skills are still catching up. But those fleeting moments fade completely beneath the weight of so many brighter ones: the spontaneous belly giggles, the proud lightbulb successes of discovery, the quiet comfort of a hand slipping into mine, the uncontainable joy of mastering something new, and the boundless warmth of unconditional hugs.

That is, until days like today.

Today is the day I have to say goodbye to a dear friend who is moving onward and upward to their next big adventure, heading off to kindergarten. While I am deeply grateful for the years of memories, laughter, and love we've shared, today is a heavy, hard day. Still, we will celebrate, cheering them on as they grow into a courageous, helpful, empathetic, determined, resilient, and deeply caring friend.

As we turn this page and send you off to your next great chapter, I want to leave you with the words of the story you shared with us today: Thank you for being my friend.

PS the cake from mom was a delicious treat to end our day.

Who needs a water park when nature brings the fun right to your doorstep? 🌧️💦

We've spent the past few days watching the rain pour, but today we traded our umbrellas for boots and embraced the ultimate puddle-jumping championship!

There was serious splashing, a whole lot of giggling, and maximum mud achieved. Sometimes the best kind of morning is the messy one! 🥾✨

Ten busy hands smash the bananas flat,
Working together, taking turns, just like that.

Careful little scoops, gentle and slow,
Five happy helpers all in a row.

Round and round the big spoon goes,
Warming up our kitchen from our heads to our toes.

Out comes the golden loaves, yummy and sweet,
To bring home and share for our families to eat.

Today we spent some of the cold rainy day mixing up some banana bread and muffins. We sampled some at snack but the mini loaves were packed up to bring home for our guppy families to share and enjoy.

🪱 Happy National Gummy Worm Day! 🎉
We celebrated today with a fun, wholesome twist on a classic childhood favorite by whipping up some extra-special "Dirt & Worms" cups! We layered rich chocolate avocado pudding for the dirt, sprinkled green coconut grass on top, and finished it off with a couple small pieces of wiggly gummy worms.
Seeing the giant smiles of the guppies as they happily dug into their muddy treats was the absolute best part of the day! 🥑🍫🥥

As white clouds of flour settled on tiny noses and MGC turned into a giant puff of fun, it was easy to see that we were baking up something far more magical than just bread. While the guppies stirred round and round, they were actually folding in giant helpings of giggles, a pinch of patience, and a whole lot of "I did it!" pride.

Our sweet creation is so much more than yeast and water. It’s a loaf full of sticky-handed love and the whimsical joy of making something special for our moms. We hope you enjoy every crumb of the sunshine and heart they kneaded into these gifts!
