That’s a wrap on Mathnasium Summer Camp!

We ended the week with an incredible final day full of learning, teamwork, and fun! Campers put their problem-solving skills to the test in a Math Relay Race, tackled their final brain teaser, and spent two hours coding robots, programming them to speak, detect colours, and complete exciting challenges.

To finish the week, we explored reactive STEM experiments, changing different variables to see how they affected the results, and celebrated as we checked on our sunflowers and another plant had sprouted!

Watching our campers grow in confidence, strengthen their math skills, and make new friends has been the highlight of our week. Thank you to all of our amazing campers and families for making this summer camp so special. We hope to see you back at the centre soon!

Day 4 of Mathnasium Summer Camp was packed with teamwork, problem-solving, and adventure!

Our theme of the day was Word Problems, and our campers put their math skills to the test in a scavenger hunt! Working together as a team, they solved a series of riddles and word problems to uncover clues that led them one step closer to the hidden gold. Their communication, teamwork, and critical thinking were on full display!

We also played Word Problem Bingo, where campers solved each word problem before finding the correct answer on their bingo card. They continued the fun with a paper airplane challenge and obstacle course, tested their strategy skills in Close the Box game, and coded their own Scratch mazes by programming characters to navigate through obstacles. 💻✈️

To top it all off, we checked on our sunflowers and were so excited to see that one of our plants had officially sprouted! 🌱 The campers have loved caring for their plants all week and watching them grow.

Another fantastic day of learning, teamwork, and fun and just one more day of camp to go!

Day 3 of Mathnasium Summer Camp was all about Financial Literacy!

Our campers started the day by checking on their sunflowers and completing a brain teaser before diving into the world of money management.

We explored the importance of budgeting, discussed needs vs. wants and goods vs. services, and learned how making purchases often means making compromises. Campers then put their skills to the test by creating slime with a $15 budget, carefully choosing which ingredients to buy while staying within their spending limit!

Next, they played Save or Spend, where they made financial decisions based on real-life scenarios and discovered how the cost of each item could change their choices. With their remaining budget, they purchased materials to create their own crystals before wrapping up the day with a lesson on pay rates, calculating earnings, and discussing whether different salaries could support different lifestyles.

Another fun-filled day of learning, problem-solving, and real-world math. We're excited for Day 4 and to see what it will bring us!
