Once back at Revel, we reflected on our favourite parts of the trip before heading home for a good night’s sleep!😴

♟️The Chess Quest ♟️ Discovery Studio Rebels have been diving into the world of strategy, patience, and powerful thinking through chess! From exploring classic openings like the Italian Game and the Queen’s Gambit to uncovering tactics like forks, pins, and skewers, Rebels are learning that great thinking takes time, focus and resilience.
At Revel, the Chess Quest is about so much more than the board. It’s about learning how to:

♟️Staying grounded when things don’t go your way
How do you respond when you make a mistake on the board and in life? How can thinking ahead make you a stronger learner, teammate or leader? At Revel, we’re not just playing the game…we’re learning how to think 💭♟️💫
☢️Today the Exploration Rebels stepped back in time and experienced the tension of a world on edge at the
Built in (near) secrecy during the height of the Cold War, this underground bunker was designed to protect government leaders in the event of a nuclear attack. From preserved war rooms to living quarters frozen in time, every corner offered a glimpse into life during one of the most uncertain periods in modern history.
✨The Rebels asked great questions which were answered by our incredibly knowledgeable tour guide before taking part in a Continuity of Government workshop and simulation! With only a day of Cold War prep, we were impressed with the learners’ recall and ability to make connections between their lesson and the tour. Way to go, Rebels!!! 👏
🇨🇦Exploration Rebels explored the incredible to kick off their Oh, Canada Quest!
From the Indigenous Peoples tour, where we learned powerful stories, traditions, and perspectives that continue to shape this land, to exploring the rich history of Canada through immersive exhibits, every tour was eye-opening.
The Children’s Museum was full of energy and imagination, giving everyone a chance to play, explore, return to their childhood, and see the world through different cultures.
And the architecture itself? Absolutely stunning—blending modern design with natural elements in such a thoughtful way.
A perfect mix of learning, reflection, and fun. Grateful for experiences like this that bring history to life! ✨

As a part of our City Planning Quest, we were excited to welcome Christine McCuaig, MCIP RPP, the Principal Senior Planner & Project Manager from Q9 Planning + Design, as a special guest speaker in the Exploration Studio!
Our learners had the opportunity to dive into the fascinating and surprisingly complex world of city planning. From balancing environmental impact and infrastructure to understanding zoning, transportation, housing, and community needs, the Rebels gained a deeper appreciation for the thoughtful collaboration required to build thriving cities.
What stood out most was the emphasis on teamwork, how planners, engineers, architects, scientists, government officials, and community members must work together to create spaces that serve everyone. It was a powerful reminder that great communities don’t just happen; they are carefully designed through communication, compromise, and vision.
Christine, thank you for sharing your expertise, insight, and passion with our learners. Experiences like this help make learning real, relevant, and inspiring!
