We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Kathleen Weathers, recently elected president of the Ecological Society of America, has been confirmed as our plenary speaker!

Dr. Weathers is an ecosystem ecologist at the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies in New York. Her research focuses on quantifying how biology affects geochemistry and biogeochemical cycling across heterogeneous landscapes, and within and among multiple systems (air-land-water).

The new co-chairs have been busy, and we're thrilled to announce that the 16th annual symposium will be held at Carleton University on Thursday May 2nd, 2019! That's the week AFTER the last exams, so we hope you'll stick around to show us what you've been working on!

We've booked this beautiful space in Richcraft Hall (aka the River Building), with views over the Rideau River :)

Last year’s organisers are looking for 2 engaged UOttawa students to take over the “reigns of power”. If you’ve got the ability to write emails, plan ahead, and work with others then you’ve got what it takes! This is a unique opportunity to engage with your peers, build your CV, and be part of something that will make a lasting impression.

If you’re interested in being one of the UOttawa co-chairs for the 2019 OCIB symposium please send us a brief letter (by Oct 1st) detailing why you’re the right candidate. Contact the OCIB symposium with the [email protected] address.

It was a pleasure working with so many of you last year and we look forward to what this year’s organisers will bring to the table.
