As December approaches and the end of 2025 is upon us, we are pleased to announce that our Spring 2026 classes are now open for pre-registration. Check out the brochure links below for program details including registration and payment information. Register now to confirm your space!

This spring we are again offering the afternoon Basic Training course in-person as well as an evening course via Zoom. Both courses begin Monday, March 9th, 2026 and run weekly until May 11th 2026 (including Easter Monday). We are also pleased to present a Continuing Education event on Tuesday April 14th as representatives from Bereaved Families of Ottawa lead a session called Disenfranchised Grief: The Losses We Don't Talk About. EARLY BIRD registration discount ends tomorrow!

This post is a reminder that our early bird registration rate ($150) for the fall basic training program expires tomorrow. Please note that registration remains available at the regular rate of $175 until Sunday September 14th based on available space. The evening session of the Basic Training course is almost full. We do have spaces in the afternoon course offered in-person at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church.

We are also excited to present a Continuing Education event on Tuesday April 8th from 7- 9pm by Zoom. In this session, Elspeth MacEwan, community psychiatrist and hospice volunteer, will lead a session called Sacred Conversations: 7000 Ways to Pray. This workshop will explore an approach focusing on compassion, empathy and journeying with patients as they search for meaning in their suffering. This workshop will focus on the process of healing through loss or transition, with a discussion of grief work in different cultures and a multi faith framework for prayer. We are also excited to present a Continuing Education event on Tuesday November 5th from 7- 9pm by Zoom. At this session, Roshene Lawson, Clinical Chaplain with Bruyère Continuing Care at St. Vincent Hospital in Ottawa, leads a session called A Pastoral Response to the Challenges of MAiD. This workshop will explore an approach focusing on compassion, empathy and journeying with patients as they search for meaning in their suffering. The presentation will not condone or condemn MAiD as a treatment option.
