Join Alex Ure for a 2 hour immersive meditation workshop where we’ll dive deep into the Satipatthana Sutta, better known as the 4 foundations of mindfulness: mindfulness of the body, emotions, mind and phenomena. Through study, discussion and meditation practice we’ll explore these timeless teachings that offer a clear path for cultivating presence, contentment and insight in everyday life.

A new offering starting in September🥹🌙

The Full Moon is a powerful time to regroup, set new intentions and reflect on the past cycle. Join me in person at the beautiful Market Social House in Little Italy for a deep guided yoga nidra meditation, reflection surrounded by candlelit community.

This September Harvest Moon in Pisces invites us to tap into our intuition so we can embrace new beginnings and step through the portal of spiritual awareness.

We will begin with grounding breath, followed by inner exploration and deep guided meditation and conclude with guided reflection.

All levels are welcome, no experience with meditation needed.

One of the cliche's we hear in meditation often is to slow down. I have heard this from teachers many times and I always think, k but what does that mean? Meditation doesn't actually slow time, but it does teach us how to be with one thing at a time. Have you ever felt like your inner momentum is moving way too quick? I’m a true believer in meditating every day - ish.

Rhythm can be defined as : 
movement, fluctuation, or variation marked by the regular recurrence or natural flow of related elements.
 
I am a big fan of having a rhythm to my day to day life but not a strict schedule. If drums are essential to the rhythm of a song, meditation is essential to the rhythm of my life.
 
When, how and where I meditate is always in a state of change and very dependant on other factors of my day. But my aim to meditate every day - ish helps keep harmony in my days and life. The ish gives me the space to let things unfold naturally and takes the pressure off my practice. 
 
Let's be honest, some times my day unfolds in a way where meditation doesn't actually fit in the rhythm, but most of the time it does. 

My 5 day summer meditation is coming up next week and it will be a great way to find your rhythm with meditation. Over the next 5 days I’ll be sharing 5 reasons to practice meditation every day ish. For today, I encourage you to consider how meditation would fit into your daily rhythm?

A new guided meditation just dropped on ✨

In meditation, we're trying to cultivate two different energies simultaneously. They are the directive and receptive energies. We are directing our energy towards a specific anchor, focus or experience and then we are being receptive to how things unfold. I like to put this idea into a lil affirmation called aim and allow. In this practice, we'll aim our awareness towards an anchor of our choice and then we'll allow things to unfold as they do.

Meditation is always the training ground for our real life, so we'll also contemplate how we can invite this practice of aiming and allowing into our daily life.

Are my conditions setting me up for what I need in this moment?

Something I’ve been asking myself lately in regards to practice and life. I understand meditation to be a state rather than something we actually do. So what we do is set up the conditions for the state of meditation to arise 🌅

I like to compare this to sleep. We don’t do sleep.. instead we get in bed, make ourselves comfy, maybe read or watch a show, and hope the state of sleep arises. Aka we set up the conditions for sleep.

Lately the state of meditation has not been coming by sitting still, it’s been creating a state of agitation instead. Which ain’t nothing wrong with that, but already being a bit agitated right now , I don’t need it also in my meditation practice

So I gotta shift the conditions! For me it’s been walking probably with a coffee in hand. Lately this has been creating more of a present, aware and kind condition than sitting has.

We need to continue to shift our conditions to meet what we need. This is one way I’m doing this in my practice lately and hoping my ability to adjust in my practice also helps me adjust in my life 💞
