The ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine is a multidimensional issue, there are multiple perspectives as to what initially caused the conflict and what continues to aggravate it. Peace is a simply understood concept, we are taught about it from the moment we start interacting with others. We are taught how to mediate arguments peacefully, how to walk through the halls peacefully and how to deal with our anger peacefully. Yet in application peace is an abstract concept as it is intrinsically linked to the truth, and different people have different truths. I can remember having arguments with one of my cousins, and because we could not agree what the truth was, we would imagine a fantastic new truth. If we could not agree that we were both born in the year of the pig we imagined instead that we were born in the year of the unicorn and were both at peace with this solution. Although I am aware that the tragedies that have occurred and are currently occurring in Israel and Palestine are vastly different from a meaningless childhood argument, fixed by a made up solution, human nature is the same. The majority of Israelis and Palestinians are living in different realities from each other, that they are each desperately trying to convey to the other. In order for a peaceful solution to be developed each side must set aside their truth about the root cause and contemporary aggravating factors of the conflict and create a new unified truth for the future.

10 ways Israel justifies killing Palestinians whenever it likes and however it likes 10/08/2015

http://stopwar.org.uk/index.php/news/10-ways-that-israel-justifies-killing-palestinians-when-it-likes-and-however-it-likes
This article highlights some of the ways Israelis justify killing Palestinians. It argues that they define the people they are attacking as terrorists, when in reality there is a shockingly high civilian casualty count. It disassociates itself from groups like Hamas by declaring them terrorists while they are practicing their right as a sovereign nation to protect themselves and so forth. By disassociating themselves from their enemy and creating a dialog of “them” against “us” is Israel aggravating the current conflict?

http://www.breakingthesilence.org.il/testimonies/database/611701

This is an interview of a Israeli soldier where he describes the orders he was given, to shoot anyone still in the occupied IDF area. It also demonstrates the immense fear instilled in soldiers, that they would be ambushed or bombed. He explains that they are working under the stressful assumption that anyone still in the IDF occupied area is not a civilian. Are Israeli soldiers misinformed about the Palestinian populations they are dealing with and given radical commands that villainies them in the eyes of the Palestinians?

Breaking the Silence › Testimony - “Anything still there is as good as dead” We asked him: “I see someone walking in the street, do I shoot him?” He said yes. “Why do I shoot him?” “Because he isn’t supposed to be there. Nobody, no sane civilian who isn’t a terrorist, has any business being within 200 meters of a tank. And if he places himself in such a situation, he’s appar…
