TARA Ottawa TARA is Ottawa's Hands-On Recording Arts School

Our 30-week diploma course combines at least 200 hours of actual recording time, 150 hours of Studio Lab time and 130 hours of theoretical workshops. We use top session musicians, lectures from industry guests, field trips and more to ensure that each TARA grad has a firm grasp of the skills needed to succeed in the audio world.

For almost 35 years, a member of the family has unlocked the studio doors at Raven Street/TARA. Between my dad, brother Marc, my husband James and I..the first order of business was warming up the coffee machine and putting on some music. Who followed us in each day were our additional Raven Street/TARA family including- Phil Bova, Janet Kirby, Steve Tevlin, JayJaknunas, Lori Harris, Marty Sobb, Nick Beaton, Julie Larocque, Victor Nesrallah, Jake Jones and Jakub Racek to name a few...incredible teachers, musicians, engineers and all round awesome studio support.
And of course, we owe our longevity to every brilliant student who enrolled at TARA(there are almost 1000 of you!) and Raven Street client who booked and kept coming...and sending their friends and family year after year. Without all of these people, we simply would not be here for more than three decades. So to this incredible Ottawa community, thank you for the privilege of being able to work with you...your support has been everything, and we hope to be here for another 35. (And you, Tara Shannon...NAILED IT!)
