February Brother of the Month: Ryan Prucha (Brother Torch)

Brother Torch's devotion to the fraternity can be traced back to his pledging days. As a pledge, he would play a tremendous role in ensuring that pledging tasks are done promptly and effectively. While only a neophyte, he was elected Omega Theta Alpha's Athletics Chair and Pledge Educator. The amount of work to ensuring Omega Theta Alpha's optimal participation in the Greek Olympics that Brother Torch has given has truly made him stand out from the pack. Combined with his unmatched sense of humor, generosity, and determination, Brother Torch is truly an extraordinary addition to Omega Theta Alpha's ranks.

January brother of the month:
Chinoso Nwabuogor (Brother King)

Last months brother of the month goes to our very own vice president. Chinoso has been with us for four years now, and his contributions to the organization have been innumerous. Throughout his years as a brother, he has educated our new members as pledge educator, kept records of our organization as historian, and has proudly served on our executive council as vice president for almost two years. His ability to balance taking care of business along with always adding to the camaraderie is something we closely cherish, and we all look forward to seeing his growth as an alumni of our chapter.

A big shoutout to two of our brothers, and a sister from ΘΣΨ, who won an award for their project at UOttaHack this past weekend. They spent 36 hours to hack out a project, and finished in the top of their category. They created a program that takes any song on YouTube, and churns our the melody played through a virtual kazoo. KAZOOK was the name of the project, and the most useless hack is their game!

Every year, the brothers of Omega Theta Alpha host a fundraising event for the Roger Neilson House. Our last initiated class raised a grand total of 770$. We are proud of you all for taking part in this fundraising tradition. Hopefully this year we will crush our goal of 1K, stay tuned for our upcoming events such as community bench sit!

Have you always dreamt of being a rock/pop star and preforming for millions of people? Well sorry to break it to you but that's never going to happen...but on February 8th ΩΘA & ZΘΞ will be giving you the opportunity to realize your dreams for one night in the form of a Lip Sync Battle.

Teams of 3-5 individuals will preform on stage and either sing or lip sync along with their favorite songs. As this is a competition the aim is to impress the audience with a dynamic and entertaining performance. Costumes are encouraged. The winner will be decided based on audience approval via the sound of applause. For time's sake please keep songs to a maximum of 6 minutes.

If you're not one for the spotlight, that's okay. Come cheer on your friends and enjoy Bonnie and Clyde's delicious food and drink. Food and drink specials for the evening include half priced nachos, 15$ pitchers of Lindsay Blue, 16$ pitchers of Molson Canadian, and 5$ P**n Stars.

DM FOR TICKETS, 3$ if you are a member of a team preforming and 5$ for general entry. All proceeds will be donated towards Diabetes Canada. If you plan on participating in the actual lip sync battle please submit the names of the members of your team as well as the song you plan on preforming before February 2nd in order to give us time to organize a schedule.

Doors will be opening and 7:30 pm and the event will begin at 8:00. As Bonnie and Clyde's is a bar we will be issuing wristbands at the door for those under the age of 19 to indicate they are underage. All those who are underage must leave the venue by 11 pm.

So if you want to sing your heart out, or watch your friends make fools of themselves on stage while supporting a fantastic cause, come and join us Saturday February 8th at Bonnie and Clyde's. Hope to see you all there!
