Looking forward to seeing our students tomorrow from 10:00am - 12:30pm.

In celebrating Mother's Day, we will learn about another Armenian holiday - Hambardzum or Jan Gyulum, this year celebrated on May 15th (40 days after Easter).

According to the tradition, we will make traditional mandalas typical for this festive holiday.

This lesson and master class of manala making is generously offered by Mrs Larisa Grigoryan. Parents interested in learning this traditional handicraft are welcome to join the class!

We will also practice for the Hantess.

Every year on April 24, we hold a special class that allows children to reflect on this painful chapter of our nation’s history. Through personal stories of survival shared by their ancestors, students explore artifacts, research cultural traditions, and learn about the towns and villages in historic Western Armenia (modern-day Turkey) from which their families came.

This year, we did something a little different. We had a wonderful presentation by our student, Tiffany Abdalian. Inspired by the book "Forget Me Not: Siroun Ararat" https://www.youtube.com/ by Antoine Habchi, she shared the story of the Armenian Genocide, explaining the symbolism of the forget-me-not flower, as well as other important Armenian symbols such as the pomegranate and the khachkar.

She concluded her presentation with an inspiring quote by renowned Armenian-American writer William Saroyan: “And whenever two of our people meet anywhere in the world, they will create a New Armenia.”

It is truly inspiring to see the next generation rising with such commitment to learning about their heritage, preserving it, and making it a meaningful part of their daily lives and identity.
