We are proud to manage the Carleton University Career Services and events for CU students. Need career direction?

Career Services provides free career help to all Carleton University students in 401 Tory Building. Our office assists students and alumni with their job search. This includes:
• Employment workshops (resumé writing, accessing the hidden job market, interview skills, etc.);
• Individual career counselling,and employment couselling);
• Several career fairs held throughout the year; and

The Treasury Board of Canada is hosting a student information session on January 10, 2022.

In this information session you can learn about how to apply, how to increase their odds of landing a position and the tools and resources available to you for gaining employment with the federal public service.

You will also get advice from Yazmine Laroche, the Deputy Minister Ambassador for Carleton University.

1:00 pm to 1:02 pm: Introductions from Asad Khan, Student Ambassador and Lauren Lemay, Senior HR Advisor with the Treasury Board Secretariat of Canada.

1:02 pm to 1:18 pm: Opening remarks and presentation by Asad Khan and Lauren Lemay on Government of Canada jobs.

1:18 pm to 1:28pm: Q&A session with Asad, Lauren and the students.

1:28 pm to 1:43 pm: Remarks from Yazmine Laroche, Deputy Minister of Public Service Accessibility and DM Champion for Carleton University.

1:43 pm to 1:58 pm: Q&A for students to ask DM Laroche questions.

1:58 pm to 2:00 pm: Closing remarks from Asad Khan. Additional time to be allotted by CU for additional questions and discussion directed at Asad and Lauren.

Are you a 3rd or 4th year BA student? Be paired with a job shadow mentor!

This is a unique opportunity to learn about a field of interest by taking part in a one-time, 60-90 minute virtual job shadow session. This program will help you:
- Gain insight into a particular career
- Build a connection between classroom learning and work requirements
- Gain a better understanding of the knowledge, skills, and educational requirements you may need to follow your career interests

If you’re in a STEM-related program, be sure to attend Industry Insights: STEM Night on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 6pm-8pm. We’ll be joined by top employers including Blackberry, Ciena, and Nokia.

Learn how to prepare your resume and elevate your experiences to successfully break into these industries, plus hear from these employers about:

• What a "day in the life" looks like at their organizations
• What work life might look like when employed as a co-op student in these sectors
