Changing Public Services

CRIAW-ICREF will be at the Congress of Humanities and Social Sciences We are hosting two sessions where we will be sharing key findings from our Changing Public Services project. We are also co-sponsoring three interdisciplinary feminist sessions. Congress 2017 is taking place at Ryerson University, May 27- June 2.

For future gender budgets, we need good data at the intersections Unfortunately, no resources were allocated to Statistics Canada to gather the information that will be necessary to close these data gaps.

Rise Up! is a digital archive of feminist activism in Canada from the 1970s to the 1990s. We were part of a worldwide wave of liberation and anti-oppression movements that won some victories, changed some attitudes and radically altered the gendered and political landscape.

This site is dedicated to documenting and sharing these histories. We hope it will foster research and inter-generational conversations, and inspire activism that will bring about social change in our current 21st century and beyond.

We recognize this archive is still partial and incomplete and does not represent the full scope of feminist activism across Canada. Our hope too, is that the Rise Up! feminist archive will grow to more fully include the voices of those who have often been marginalized or erased within our movements.
