Great encouragements from our VP Membership Belinda!
Itβs the government's fiscal year-end. And what does that mean? Hectic schedules, filled with last minute reports and urgent financial requests. It is very easy to get burnt out during this time.
Take time during the day to relax and have some fun.
During your work day, you can step away from your computer, grab your drink of choice, and eat some snacks to re-energize. After work, you can enjoy your favourite hobbies such as reading, exercising, playing board games with your friends, you name it. Whatever helps you de-stress after a busy day, make sure to find time for it.
By balancing your work-life and personal-life, your body and mind will thank you for it.

Storytelling techniques: Vocal variety
Who else loves Winnie the Pooh? Or likes making new friends? You can be⦠the narrator, Pooh, or Tigger in the dialogue exchange.
We shall practice vocal variety by reading a short passage. Try out different vocal tones, pitch, and more!
Guests are welcomed. Let us know and we will save a role for you in the small groups.

At Toastmasters, Belinda enjoys variety and new opportunities. Her presentations of the Thought of the Day were memorable, for her exemplary efforts with tones to make her message more impactful. She has also tested out new storytelling techniques. We were proven that yes, a self-introduction speech can also be delivered in a fun way like a mission briefing.
So many great ideas. Can you believe Belinda has only been with Health Canada Toastmasters since April 2022?
Belinda says that ever since she joined Toastmasters, she found herself to be more confident at expressing herself in her professional life. She is able to present her ideas with clarity and confidence.
Come see what other great ideas Belinda has for us at the Open House virtual meeting on Wednesday, November 30!

Quality feedback is one of the strengths at Health Canada Toastmasters. And so, the club persevered. Yesterday, we were pleased to hold the Annual Speech Contest: the Evaluation Speech Contest.
Contestants gave their best recommendations to Lireva Hinostroza for her great talk about networking through Toastmasters.
We are very proud of our winners:
RUNNER-UP - Innocent Jayawardene
FIRST PLACE - Robert Leitch
If you missed the Evaluation Speech Contest, don't worry! Robert and Innocent are both very active with high attendance. Visit any meeting and learn how to present feedback effectively.
Every meeting has quality feedback for the speakers and the collective meeting participants.

Do you wonder how to give feedback to others? What should you say and how to phrase it?
Well come and watch great examples!
Health Canada Toastmasters is holding an Evaluation Speech Contest. There will be a test speech between 5-7 min. Members of the Toastmasters club may enter as contest participants to give their feedback and recommendations for the Test Speaker to improve their presentation. Guests are welcomed to join and observe!

"At long last.....Finally, the Health Canada Toastmasters Club were able to hold their Annual Summer Picnic on August 20th. This time, it was held at the Vincent Massey Park- moving it from Tunney's Campus.
After a 2 1/2 year of isolation, members and guests enjoyed their in-person meeting with friends and guests. With great camaraderie, members were injected with the popular "Toastmasters' Hug".
There was such great fun, lots of food and games. Lathif Masood and Heine Mar were the stars during the Table Topic session. Their youngest Toastmaster, three-year old Isabel (granddaughter of Robert Leitch) was blowing bubbles with her grandfather. You should have seen the rest like Yen, Innocent, Rakhee, Ben and Ming playing frisbee with Isabel.
If you missed this day, be sure to come next year - this annual picnic is a favourite event of Health Canada Toastmasters and many of their friends"
