Today we wrap up celebrating our 2024 graduates of the BMPD program. Congratulations to the 25 students receiving their MPAD degrees this week! Thanks for following along as we met the graduates!
Meet Ge Fang
Favourite memory:
Ordering a family-sized Popeyes takeout with the team late at night during the final month and catching up on the final project. We brainstormed a lot on the whiteboard, discussed and laughed at each other's wired ideas in the shared space. Quiet nights, the only room on the floor with lights on, and working with my teammates.
Plans after graduation:
Start working as a freelancer in digital storytelling, exploring more possibilities.
Advice to current or future BMPD students:
It's a program where you can put all your ideas into practice, and I believe this characteristic is valuable because it's rare in many programs as they all have strict rules and regulations, but in BMPD, you won't be criticized for your creativity, no matter how unreal it may sound, you can still make the attempt because there are many super nice professors who will do what they can to help you. It's fun and challenging, so be bold and enjoy it.

Meet Kayleigh Lewis
Favourite Memories:
My favourite memories are a mix of creative brainstorming sessions with my team; whether it was Capstone, a Directed Study, or Data Science, there was always someone with an insanely crazy idea and someone else with an even crazier plan of ex*****on. I loved seeing the things that we were able to come up with!
After Graduation:
After graduation I will continue working as a research assistant with Dr. Stéfy McKnight exploring Surveillance and Territory. Following the summer, I look forward to pursuing a Master’s degree in International Affairs with a focus in International Development policy at Carleton with NPSIA.
Advice:
Try to partner your degree with a minor that will help you mobilize your MPAD-related passion. My favourite MPAD classes have been centred on the ethical implications of storytelling, and the technical means of delivering a message with concrete evidence whether that be through oral histories or data. Partnering with arts management taught me the entrepreneurial, leadership, and financial skills to ensure that what I create makes an impact in an environment I will definitely occupy!

Meet Stefan Warwick
Favourite Memory:
My favourite memory from BMPD was meeting my friends Jonathan and Tomas in Data Storytelling in 2nd year.
Plans after graduation:
Right now I am working at a company printing merchandise and hockey pucks for different teams and leagues, and this summer I'm going to Sweden with my girlfriend.
Advice to current or future BMPD students:
Prioritize projects that you are interested in, so that you can have a better portfolio when you graduate.

Favourite Memory:
I can't tell a single favorite moment, but I've made many like-minded friends and met nice professors. My time here was almost happy and fulfilling all the time.
After Graduation Plans:
I don’t have any plans at the moment, but I want to become a freelancer in the future.
Advice:
Cherish the moment.

Meet Sebastian Frank
Favourite memory:
The Capstone fair was a highlight for me. I enjoyed taking a look at everybody else's projects that they'd been working on for the last 2 semesters. Glad I could show off my own work as well and have fun throughout the whole event.
Plans after graduation:
On the job hunt for now, but beyond that I haven't much clue what I'll do or where I'll end up. I've learned a lot of different skills over my studies, so there's a lot of different avenues I can take.
Advice for future BMPD students:
Have fun. With all the open electives the degree has, there's a lot of flexibility and freedom to try out new things, so just go for it. If you take a chance and find it isn't for you, then you've still learned something valuable as well.
