Today, we are shining the light on ILLUME member, theater maker, educator, and arts leader Julia Cuppy! Julia’s work connects professional theater, educational spaces, and communities, and she is giving a sneak peek of her ILLUME Big Creative Goal at our ILLUME Showcase in NYC this month!
đź’Ą
About Julia: Julia is the founder and president of a nonprofit theatre incubator called “The Loop,” and their mission is to expand the canon of Young Adult Theatre by fostering the development of new works by skilled writers. And at The Loop, these new works are developed not just FOR young people, but WITH them! Young people are active consultants and participants in the development of these new plays and musicals, infusing them with authenticity, credibility, and nuance.
đź’Ą
Julia says: “We’re building stories that young people want to perform, audiences want to see, and the industry has real reason to invest in.”
đź’Ą
We love it, Julia! Keep going!

What if the people in our lives came with warning labels, gift receipts or invisible instruction manuals?
đź’Ą
In this episode of The Spark File Podcast, called “Personal Instruction Manuals,” Laura and Susan explore the invisible “rule books” we all carry (or should carry!) — the hidden needs, sensitivities, communication styles, expectations, and emotional landmines that shape our relationships and creative collaborations.
đź’Ą
Because maybe a little more clarity and awareness about who we are could save us all a little heartbreak.

Today, we are shining the light on ILLUME member and beekeeper, music director, performer, tenured professor, and writer Bradley J. Behrmann! Bradley is sharing a sneak peek of his new book and musical lecture “The Pulitzer Project” at our annual ILLUME Showcase in NYC on May 18th!
đź’Ą
Bradley J. Behrmann has been behind the table, at the piano, at the podium, at the head of the class, AND downstage center. His ILLUME Big Creative Goal is “The Pulitzer Project,” an exploration of the ten Pulitzer Prize-winning musicals in history. Through a forthcoming book and musical lecture, this entertaining-and-scholarly endeavor asks what these 10 shows have to tell us about being American. And Bradley’s lecture-performance style will bring this relevant research to life on his future book tour.
đź’Ą
We love it, Bradley! Keep going!
