You don’t want to wait another four years before you get your first job in the industry, do you? Film school will teach you the basics of film, but it doesn’t teach you how to be a Film Producer. g a Producer requires knowledge of financing, legal issues, production scheduling and budgeting, the filmmaking process, and quality control. You need more than just a degree in film to get your first job as a professional Producer.

— YOU NEED EXPERIENCE! And that’s what we offer at Up Light Academy: real-world experience in all aspects of Producing. Our program is designed to give you hands-on experience, from pre-production through post. You’ll learn about how project is made by doing: working with all the departments from the production office to on set. Up Light Academy was founded by Caitlin Delaney and Shane Boucher of 1Department Entertainment Services. They are here to coach and mentor you along the way. Over the last few years, these two have produced dozens of movies, often two or three at a time, for many different networks, streaming services, and specialty channels. Work directly with them and be taught and coached directly by them – not an affiliate or associate! This mentoring isn’t theoretical either! You will get to work on their ACTUAL movie sets. When you work with Up Light Academy and Caitlin and Shane, you are getting to partake and learn from two of the busiest Producers currently on the scene! See how you could be their next mentee! 😊

No paper trail = no distributor will touch it. No exceptions.

Most first-time producers learn about contingency the hard way, after something's already gone over budget.

It's usually a small line, around 10% of the total budget, set aside for the costs nobody plans for. Skip it, and one unexpected expense can stall the whole production.
