An international award winning guitarist, instructor at Mohawk College, holder of Master of Arts in Music Pedagogy and Master of Arts in Music Performance and student of Doctor of Musical Arts at the U of T is now giving lessons in the neighbourhood. I work as a guitar instructor at Mohawk College and I was recently admitted to DMA (Doctor of Musical Arts) at U of T. I won a dozen of international
guitar competitions and played concerts in Canada, Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Romania, Balkans etc. I have 10 years teaching experience as a teacher at Geneva Conservatory (CPMDT), an adjunct professor at the University of Western Switzerland and a lecturer and juror at around 30 international festivals. At the age of 20 I published a book for guitar beginners co-financed by the Ministry of Culture of Montenegro that is widely used in music classrooms in several countries. I am fluent in French, English, Italian, Spanish and German in addition to my mother tongue (Serbo-Croatian) and happy to welcome the students who are not yet fluent in English. I am primarily a classical guitarist, but I also play and teach world music (Balkan, flamenco and Middle-Eastern in particular) and the basics of popular and jazz music. I do not fully adhere to any particular teaching philosophy, as I tailor my lessons to fit a student's potential, personality and aspirations. I can prepare you for competitions, open your horizons for less familiar universes of music or help you enjoy and progress in any repertoire of your choice. I am open to parent-child or two siblings/ friends classes for the price of one. Whichever mode and intensity of learning you opt for, I will enable you to discover and strengthen the connection between your character, our instrument, geo-historical context of the composition and the science that music is built upon. The way you are perceiving music, whether played or listened to, will expand and intensify for a lifetime.
