KNIGHTS ON THE RIM ARE DIM:

Because a Knight always moves to a square of the opposite colour to the one it stands on, there is a danger that a badly placed knight can be dominated by the enemy bishop that moves on that colour square. Below position is an example: Black has allowed his knight to become cut off behind enemy lines, and the white bishop is able to prevent it from escaping single handedly. There is nothing black can do to stop the white king from strolling over and capturing the knight.

Stalemate is something very important
to avoid in the endgame when you are in a winning position. In this position, White has a huge material advantage.

We need to notice that the Black King has no legal moves. Therefore, if Black is able to give
up his last piece (the Queen) which can move, Black can escape a lost game with the help of stalemate.

Therefore Black plays: 1…Qa1+ or 2. Kxa1 (only move) and stalemate. Game Draw.
