CAFE certificate 2026 The 2026-2027 session of the Certificate in Adult Faith Education will begin on May 5, 2026 and run until May 18, 2027 (with summer and Christmas breaks).

SO pleased to share the good news that CREC will run our Certificate in Adult Faith Education (CAFE) Program for a second time beginning in May 2026!
(CAFE is offered by the Centre for Religious Education and Catechesis (CREC) in partnership with the Providence Institute for Transformative Leadership at Saint Paul University).
- This program is offered online so that it is available to all who accompany adult faith from across the country.
- Six modules over 12 months (no Summer sessions) focus on theories and practices that support life-giving adult faith and responsive Christian discipleship.
- Generous funding from the Sisters of Service allows us to offer this program at a nominal fee($500 early registration; $650 after April 6, and sliding scale for financial need)
- Spaces are limited.
While it is always the call of the church to provide effective adult faith development, it's particularly timely as an essential foundation for the synodal church we are building together.
Stay tuned for further information/application information coming soon!
And don't hesitate to be in touch in the meantime. I'm always happy to hear from you: [email protected]

Cosmogenesis: From Awe to Activism
Featuring Heather Eaton, PhD
The conversation will consider ways that understanding the new cosmology expands our horizons, changes our reference points, informs a robust ecological vision, is infused with spirituality and strengthens activism. To consider cosmology in the face if the current ecological crises and political instabilities may seem irrelevant, but it is not. The presentation and conversation will explore how cosmology is increasing relevant to a fragmented, troubled world.
About our Guest Speaker:
Heather Eaton is professor of theology at Saint Paul University, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She holds an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in ecology, feminism and theology from the University of St. Michael's College, Toronto School of Theology, and a Master's of Divinity. Dr. Eaton was awarded the Thomas Berry Award in March 2024, in recognition of her significant contributions and research on the intersections of ecological responsibility, spirituality, and social justice. Dr. Eaton is the co-founder of the Canadian Forum on Religion and Ecology.
Heather grew up on Lake Huron. In addition to work, she often spends time in the natural world, canoeing, sailing, traveling, studying elephants in Africa, bird-watching, gardening and cooking.
