🐪🧪 Happy Hump Day! | We are all born experimenters. Before we could explain cause and effect, we were already testing it. What happens if I roll over? Can I reach that? What if I let go? Can I stand? Can I take one more step? We tried. We wobbled. We fell. We adjusted. And we tried again.

Somewhere along the way, though, many of us became a little less comfortable experimenting. We learned to value being right. We became wary of being wrong. And sometimes we started treating uncertainty as something to avoid rather than something to explore.

We live in a world where we're constantly being told what is true, what will happen next, what we should believe. Experimentation doesn't belong only in laboratories or Design of Experiments courses. It's a way of thinking;

Try something small. Observe what happens. Learn from the evidence. Adapt. Try again. This works for processes, products and organizations. It works for assumptions and ideas. And, as that fearless little rider seems to have remembered better than most of us, it works for life.

🐪🧪 Hump Day : What's one small experiment you could run this week—not necessarily to prove yourself right, but simply to learn something?

And if you'd rather experiment without risking a camel, a chemistry set, or your production line, we've built a place for that too. 😄 Our Virtual Process Lab lets learners explore, experiment and discover what the data has to teach them. So why don't you "come up to the lab and see what's on the slab": https://www.rpm-academy.com/lean-six-sigma-knowledge-hub/virtual-process-labs Try. Learn. Adapt. Repeat.

🐪 Happy Hump Day! Will that be one lump or two? | Sometimes the hardest thing to control isn't what happens to us... It's what happens next. Someone challenges us. An email irritates us. A meeting takes an unexpected turn. A customer complains. A colleague pushes the wrong button. Stimulus!

And almost immediately, our brain offers up a reaction. Fight back. Defend yourself. Send the email. Make the comment. Prove the point. But there is a small and incredibly valuable space between what happens and what we do about it. That's where THINK30 lives.

STOP. THINK. RESPOND.

Taking 30 seconds doesn't mean backing down. Sometimes the right response is to challenge, disagree, escalate or stand your ground. The difference is that you chose the response. The situation didn't choose it for you.

Adaptability isn't simply our ability to deal with change. It's also our ability to manage ourselves when circumstances—or people—tempt us to react rather than respond. This Hump Day, our young explorer offers a simple challenge: Don't surrender control of your behaviour to someone else's behaviour. Take 30 seconds... and then decide what happens next. 🎞️ THIRSTY THURSDAY🎬 | Last night, I went to see "Spider-Man: Brand New Day at our local historic O'Brien Theatre. It also happened to be closed-captioning night which provides an accessible and inclusive experience. I had a "swinging good time"! 😂

This being my first closed-captioning cinema experience, my eyes kept being drawn to every printed line of dialogue, sound effect, and musical cue. But after a short period of time, something interesting happened. I stopped noticing the closed captioning. My brain had simply decided they weren't information I needed... and began filtering them out.

This made me think of this week's THINK30 theme about perception. We often assume perception is about how we interpret what we see. But... What do we actually notice in the first place?

Our brains are remarkable filtering machines. They have to be. Imagine trying to consciously process every sight, sound, sensation and piece of information competing for our attention. Filtering helps us function, but it can also make things disappear.

🔷The process we've walked past a thousand times.
🔷The recurring problem we've learned to work around.
🔷The customer's comment that doesn't fit what we already believe.
🔷The colleague whose perspective we've unconsciously categorized.
🔷The piece of data that challenges our preferred explanation.

None of these things is necessarily hidden. Sometimes we've simply learned not to see them anymore. Maybe that's one reason a fresh pair of eyes can be so valuable. They haven't yet learned what everyone else has learned to ignore.

Even Spider-Man, swinging high above the city with a perspective the rest of us can only dream about, can't see everything. What have I learned to filter out? RPM-Academy

Happy Hump Day! 🐪 | PERSPECTIVE... The world can look very different depending on where you're standing. That's easy to forget when opinions are strong, rhetoric is loud, and everyone seems increasingly certain that their view is the obvious one. But, perspective doesn't ask us to abandon what we believe — it asks, "What might I see from somewhere else that I can't see from here?"

Perhaps that's what it really means to keep things in perspective... to keep our own viewpoint from becoming the only one we're willing to see. Sometimes the best way to see farther is to change where you're standing.

Happy Hump Day! 🐪 | We all make ASSUMPTIONS. They help us fill in the blanks, make sense of uncertainty, and move forward without having every answer. But every once in a while, one of those assumptions deserves a second look.

: What’s one assumption you’ve caught yourself making recently that turned out to be wrong — or at least worth questioning?Sometimes the answer changes nothing... Sometimes it changes everything.

Critical thinking isn't about constantly changing our minds. It's about making sure they remain changeable. From our hump to yours… keep navigating with curiosity and dare to question.

🐪HAPPY HUMP DAY!🐫 How quickly our world is changing... Many of us have built careers, businesses, and lives on experience and, yes, experience is invaluable. But... Is what worked yesterday still the best approach today?
Whether it's technology, leadership, learning, decision-making, or simply navigating everyday life, growth begins when we're willing to stay curious, question our assumptions, and keep learning. Maybe, now more than ever, it's time to look at this differently.
Here's to fresh perspectives, thoughtful conversations, and making the second half of the week even better than the first.
