PARTICIPANTS WANTED FOR RESEARCH

The TICBI project team at Carleton University is currently looking for resettled refugees/newcomers and/or immigrants to Canada with experience using resettlement services. Participants will be asked to complete a brief survey and participate in an online focus group or individual interview to share their experiences and thoughts on coming to Canada.

Your voice and knowledge is crucial in developing a holistic understanding of experiences on trauma, healing and resettlement. We hope you will help us develop one of the first guidelines for culturally-based trauma-informed interventions!

We are now looking for newcomers and/or resettled refugees from a war-affected area who used resettlement or health services who speak English, Arabic or Somali and over 18 years old.

Meet our research team for the TICBI.Project!

As a community-based participatory study, we have an interdisciplinary team of community workers, peers, academics and researchers. Team members bring a wealth of diverse knowledge in resettlement, trauma intervention and cultural-based healing.

We believe this collaborative approach will promote a partnership rooted in community strength and resources, while also promoting joint-learning and capacity building among team members and participants.

Welcome to the Trauma-Informed And Cultural Based Intervention Project!

A community-based study led by Dr. Nimo Bokore (Carleton University (Official)), in collaboration with the Somali Centre for Family Services, aims to evaluate resettlement services available to newcomers arriving from war-affected areas. We hope to learn about the impacts of war on resettled refugees and, as a result, develop a needed, culturally-based trauma intervention model.
